Are you ready to join one of ABN AMRO's largest and fastest-growing data science teams dedicated to Detecting Financial Crime (DFC)? As a Data Scientist at DFC you’ll work on socially relevant projects with significant impact on the financial system's stability and security. Your job

You'll be joining a vibrant group of about 35 Data Science Experts in the Innovation team of our Detecting Financial Crime in Amsterdam. You’ll collaborate closely with DFC teams and other departments, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to our innovative projects.

In this role you’ll be transforming traditional transaction monitoring (TM) process into state-of-the-art machine learning solutions. This responsibility extends to continuously tailoring models, adapting them to business needs and emerging financial crime threats.

  • Innovate and develop machine learning models for transaction monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with business units, Compliance, and DFC analysts to enhance financial crime detection.
  • Tailor data-driven models to evolving business needs and financial crime threats.
  • Interpret model results and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.

The Detecting Financial Crime – Data Science Innovation Team at ABN AMRO is a key player in the fight against financial crime, including activities such as money laundering, terrorist financing, and tax evasion. As one of the largest and fastest-growing data science teams within the organization, our department is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that maintain the integrity of the financial system. Situated in Amsterdam, this vibrant group of over 35 Data Science Experts collaborates closely with various departments and DFC teams. We strive for growth and improvement, offering an exciting environment for innovation.

Our work is highly visible and impactful, drawing attention from senior management, national regulators, and society, underscoring our crucial role as gatekeepers of financial stability.

Your profile

  • You have a master’s degree or PhD in computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • You have 1 - 3 years work experience as a Data Scientist.
  • You are familiar with recent developments in machine learning, have knowledge of IT architecture, and have experience in Python programming, preferably also skilled in PySpark and other technologies like GIT and Azure.
  • Having working experience within the KYC/CDD/AML domain is beneficial.
  • Located in the Netherlands.

  • You are able to communicate effectively with technical and business counterparts.
