Job Description

Internship details

  • Period: ~6 months (minimum of 4 months)
  • Start date: the first day of each month

The work

Are you looking for an internship where you can:

  • Combine consulting, engineering, and IT
  • Work in a fast-moving environment
  • Support leading industrial companies on real transformation projects
  • Work on a research assignment that covers strategy, process improvement, and technology implementation

Then a role within Supply Chain & Engineering (SC&E) could be a great fit for you.

Teams

In general, SC&E is a diverse and dynamic team of innovators, visionaries, and problem solvers in the fields of Engineering and Manufacturing.

You will either join PES - Product Engineering and Servicing, which focuses on next-generation R&D and on imagining and reinventing the future of products and the end-to-end product journey, from initial design to managing Product Lifecycle Systems, their sustainable footprint, and the ultimate retiring and replacement.

Or you will join M&O - Manufacturing and Operations, which focuses on digital Manufacturing, Intelligent Asset Management, and Capital Projects in Utilities. The topic of your graduation internship could be around grid infrastructure, challenges of the energy transition in the utilities industry, and other innovations on the factory floor to provide digital transformation at the core of Manufacturing.

Daily tasks

As an intern at SC&E, you will work in collaboration with our colleagues to conduct your thesis research and assignment in one of the relevant research areas listed below. Your thesis will research challenges or opportunities we see at our clients so that new business solutions or opportunities can be defined based on the input of our experts. During your internship, you’ll connect with many SC&E colleagues and gain valuable insight into the world of strategy & consulting.

Research

Product Engineering and Servicing (PES)

Within PES we specialize in companies that focus on product development, so we are mainly active in Research & Development departments. Here we enable industry-leading clients to optimize their business processes and efficiency.

Research groups:

  • Defining R&D strategies: Helping clients shape their long-term vision and roadmap for R&D and digital transformation.
  • Improving engineering and business processes: Analyzing current ways of working and redesigning product development processes through workshops, interviews, and practical improvements.
  • Implementing digital solutions: Supporting the rollout of technologies such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Driving sustainability initiatives: Setting up frameworks, processes, and insights that help companies reach their sustainability goals.

Each year we have multiple business-relevant thesis topics prepared around these topics.

Manufacturing and Operations (M&O)

Within M&O we are currently looking for research focused on Intelligent Asset Management, Capital Projects in Utilities, and Digital Manufacturing. We transform production plants, assets, and work processes to deliver operational excellence. By prioritizing, optimizing, digitizing, connecting, and automating our clients’ operations through integrated solutions, AI, IoT, mobility, and platforms, we unlock additional value and productivity within and across production sites. It’s a chance to apply your engineering skills to deliver meaningful, high-impact solutions.

Research groups:

  • Intelligent Asset Management: You will support transforming the way our clients take care of their physical assets such as machines, buildings, and equipment. You will collaborate with us to create data-driven and intelligent solutions such as Predictive Maintenance and Asset Performance Management to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, increase sustainability, and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Capital Projects in Utilities: You will support utility companies in driving the energy transition by developing new solutions and strategies to build new infrastructure, manage grid congestion, and optimize asset performance.
  • Digital Manufacturing: You will focus on where clients can digitize, optimize, and bring digital transformation to the core of their manufacturing processes. Think about developing fully autonomous factories (dark factories).

If you're interested in writing a thesis, possible topics range from AI applications in the utility sector, data-driven predictive maintenance, rethinking the construction process and standardization for large-scale infrastructure projects, topics related to the operation and efficiency of the grid, creating new propositions for dark factories, and digital transformation of manufacturing processes. These are just some ideas, so do not feel limited by this list and share any ideas you may have.

Within all our internships, we offer you the opportunity to develop, learn, orient, build relationships, and gain insights into what it’s like to work as a consultant. As an employer, we will be as flexible as possible to support your work as well as your academic needs and help you navigate the beginning of your career.

Digital transformation changes markets, consumer needs and the way value is created. parsionate helps its customers to successfully meet these challenges: Providing consultancy and support in implementing omnichannel strategies is part of our DNA.
