Research & Innovation

Within Research & Innovation, the Clinical Data Scientist role focuses on non-randomized study designs within the Biometrics & Real-World Data (RWD) team.

About the job

We are seeking a clinical data scientist/statistician with a strong interest in non-randomized study designs to join our Biometrics & Real-World Data (RWD) team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and interpretation of studies that fall outside the traditional randomized controlled trial (RCT) framework. These include observational studies (cross-sectional and longitudinal), quasi-experimental designs (such as pragmatic trials), and single-arm studies. You will work with data generated in real-world settings—ranging from digital health tools to registries—where methodological rigor must be balanced with operational feasibility. In addition you will contribute to the statistical evaluation of digital health tools.

Your responsibilities will include developing statistical analysis plans, identifying and mitigating sources of bias and confounding, and where feasible applying appropriate methods for causal inference and sensitivity analysis. You will collaborate closely with statistical programmers, clinical study researchers, AI model developers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that statistical deliverables are transparent and aligned with both scientific and business objectives. Experience with real-world data workflows, including exploratory analysis and fit-for-purpose thinking is highly valued.

At Danone, we are a global leader in health-focused food and nutrition, operating across two complementary domains:

  1. Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG): we develop and market everyday nutrition products that are part of consumers’ daily lives. This includes Essential Dairy & Plant-Based Products such as yogurts, fermented milks, and plant-based alternatives, as well as Early Life Nutrition: evidence-based infant formulas and complementary feeding solutions, grounded in over 50 years of breastmilk research.
  2. Specialized Medical Nutrition: we support individuals with specific nutritional needs due to health conditions, across all life stages. For example, infants and children: products for prematurity, cow’s milk allergy, faltering growth, and metabolic disorders. As well as adults and elderly: tailored nutrition for oncology, stroke recovery, frailty, and critical care. Finally, clinical and tube feeding: oral and enteral nutrition solutions used in hospitals and home care settings.

Main responsibilities

  • Study Design & Analysis: Provide statistical input into protocols and analysis plans for non-randomized studies, ensuring fit-for-purpose methodological rigor and relevance to research questions.
  • Documentation & Review: Develop and maintain statistical documents in line with internal documentation practices.
  • Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure statistical considerations are integrated throughout the study lifecycle, from planning to reporting.

Key deliverables

  • Protocols, Statistical Analysis Plans and Study Reports for non-randomized studies.
  • Well-documented statistical outputs, aligned with internal standards.
  • Input into training materials and support for statistical tools and processes.

About you

You are a curious and scientifically rigorous clinical data scientist who is passionate about generating evidence beyond traditional randomised controlled trials. You enjoy working with real-world data, exploring complex methodological questions, and translating statistical findings into clear and actionable insights. Comfortable collaborating across disciplines, you bring a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a practical mindset to help deliver robust and transparent evidence that supports both scientific and business decision-making.

You bring:

  • MSc or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in RWD or observational research, preferably in a clinical or health data setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
  • A proactive mindset to co-build and grow a new competency within Danone.
