At AWL, you will design smart engineering solutions that make logistics processes smarter, faster and more efficient.

As a Mechanical Engineer within the Intralogistics business unit, you play a key role in designing innovative solutions for logistical processes. What you design is not only built but also commissioned and used by customers around the world.

You will work on both existing and new concepts. From the initial idea through to a fully operational machine, you are involved every step of the way. You contribute ideas, test solutions and ensure every design detail is right.

Working closely with colleagues from various disciplines, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams developing innovative solutions. You will also regularly collaborate with customers and suppliers, giving you direct insight into the impact of your work.

Depending on your ambitions and development goals, there are opportunities to progress into roles such as Lead Engineer.

What will you be doing?

  • Designing and developing mechanical concepts and machines
  • Performing and/or coordinating concept testing
  • Preparing purchasing specifications
  • Collaborating with customers, suppliers and fellow engineers
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of standards and designs

What do we expect?

  • Preferably at least 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer;
  • Knowledge of and experience within industrial automation is considered an advantage;
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related engineering discipline;
  • Experience with 3D CAD and PDM systems;
  • A flexible, pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset, combined with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

What do we offer:

  • 40 days of annual leave based on a full-time working week;
  • Access to the AWL Academy, offering more than 50 training programmes covering both technical and personal development;
  • Participation in our Boost Your Life vitality programme, including boot camps, spinning classes and fresh fruit at the office;
  • Plenty of opportunities for personal input, training and professional development.

This will be your day

8:00

You start the week full of energy. After catching up with your colleagues over a cup of coffee, you plan your priorities for the week and reserve time for ad hoc matters. You are currently working on two active projects, which keeps your work varied and engaging.

10:00

You continue working on a project that has reached the final stages of the design concept. Today, you are preparing a customer presentation to showcase the project's progress and present the final design.

13:00

After lunch and a walk outside with colleagues, you return to your project. A meeting is scheduled to hand over parts of the project to your Hardware Engineering colleagues, who will continue with the detailed specifications.

15:00

You receive a call from the workshop regarding one of your projects. As the responsible engineer, you provide technical advice and support your colleagues in resolving issues, helping to ensure the successful delivery of a high-quality machine.

16:30

Time flies. Before you know it, the working day is coming to an end. You wrap up your tasks, close your laptop and head home with a sense of satisfaction.

Your tasks:

  • 65% Machine Design
  • 15% Technical Consultancy
  • 10% Guidance & Coordination
