Does working in a complex environment energize you? Then come help us unlock the power of data & AI at the Central Data & AI Office (CDAO) of ABN AMRO.

You help to ensure ABN AMRO stays compliant with rules and regulations related to data management & AI. More excitingly, you help to realise that ABN AMRO becomes a personal bank in a digital age. You ensure that the entire bank follows the correct route towards a fully data driven organisation. From shaping new controls to monitoring and guiding data management & AI initiatives goals, you are able to quickly submerge yourself in a brand-new initiative, shape it and ensure it is properly anchored for successful execution.

Your job

As Senior control consultant for data, AI and BCBS239, your job is to mature and drive the execution of the Control Framework for Data Management and help to establish a new control framework for AI. You help ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries to define, implement, and monitor controls related to data management & AI. You do this by creating a strong overview of planning and actions, and you are able to track them transparently. You have great feeling for when to find consensus or when it is time to stick to the plan. By doing so, you make sure the organisation is able to say “I have the feeling that I’m in control and on the right track for the things I must do for data management and AI”.

Your task:

  1. Establishing the control roadmaps that plan and monitor the controls that must be implemented for the Central Data & AI Office and Data Domain organisations;
  2. Keeping oversight of the control report out to the organisation, ensuring one single view of data management & AI control for the whole bank;
  3. Track and challenge actions and align outcomes with applicable stakeholders, such as senior data leadership, data stewards, and data capability owners;
  4. Identifying the specific controls that are required for regulations such as BCBS239 and the AI Act;
  5. Contributing to the 2nd line risk framework activities such as Process Risk Assessments, Key Risk Indicators and Reference Controls;
  6. You are great at spotting deviations, and help to keep an overview of them.

Furthermore, you are an active contributor to the overall team responsibilities:

  • Designing and driving the implementation of processes to formalise data management & AI artefacts such as standards and guidelines;
  • Providing expert guidance and support in adopting data management & AI artefacts;
  • Driving awareness of data & AI governance.

This role requires switching contexts quickly, being action oriented while having strong conceptual capabilities with an understanding of data & AI governance and management, risk management and foremost you are able to inspire stakeholders to take action.

Working environment

You operate in the following organisation:

  • You are part of the Central Data & AI Office – Control & Performance team and you report to ABN AMRO’s Head of Control & Performance.
  • You interact with senior leadership stakeholders in the Data Domain Organisations, specifically those of the BCBS239 program.
  • You interact with other departments in the Central Data & AI Office and with the 2nd line.

Next to your day-to-day work, there is room to think about the future of data & AI and thereby determine the agenda for data & AI in the bank. We do so in an open and transparent way of working where your opinion is valued and dialogue is encouraged. The team is diverse with regards to culture, experience and age. The atmosphere is lively and informal, closely monitoring a safe environment where everyone is able to share their thoughts, feelings and worries. It is normal to make mistakes and we aim to help each other grow better as learning is one of our main focuses.

The team you become part of is in constant collaboration with all business units, international branches and subsidiaries of the bank. We all work together at the frontier of the largest data & AI revolution in the banking industry and with the core value-assets of the organization.

Your profile

  • At least 5-7 years work experience, including proven experience in consulting.
  • You have a strong getting-things-done personality that help the team to achieve its goals.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across departments and disciplines.
  • Experience with project management and driving large change programs in complex environments.
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Management (you are familiar with DAMA DMBOK, BCBS239, etc.). A strong affinity with Audit, Compliance or a related field is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred, preferably in Information Sciences, Business Information Management, Business Administration, Data Management, Legal, Compliance or a related field like Risk Management.
  • If you are currently working as a PO, Project Lead or Program Manager, but you find you currently are not involved enough in the content itself, then this is especially interesting for you.

If you don’t meet all the above requirements but have a strong drive to succeed, we encourage you to apply and highlight your motivation in your cover letter.
