Team

The Financial Systems team provides technology expertise to the finance department and is responsible for SAP, HANA, and connected 3rd party systems at Booking.com. The team aims to change the way people work with SAP by building a finance application platform that supports simplification of business processes and empowers the finance community with better financial insights.

About the role

As a SAP FI Specialist at Booking.com, you will be responsible for setting up new functionalities, customizing or modifying existing functionalities, and providing support and training to users by resolving incidents and managing changes.

You will partner with business owners and other FinTech teams to identify opportunities for improvement and offer an appropriate solution design to meet business objectives.

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of finance processes and integration with other systems, along with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills in English.

Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Setting up new functionalities, customizing or modifying existing functionalities in SAP
  • Providing scalable and innovative solutions
  • Supporting fast decisions in a very dynamic environment, with some level of uncertainty
  • Contributing to the identification of opportunities in processes and people to improve project delivery and/or development methodologies
  • Training key users and providing key user support
  • Troubleshooting issues in SAP and supporting resolution
  • Collaborating with business owners and FinTech engineers to translate complex business needs into elegant technical designs
  • Transitioning into a subject matter expert for the SAP BRIM landscape, evolving current FI expertise to include Convergent Invoicing (CI) and Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to grasp detail and manage multiple priorities in a quick-turnaround environment
  • 5–7 years of SAP FI hands-on experience, including strong experience handling Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable configuration, and business process mapping in S/4 HANA environments
  • Proven expertise in BCM (payment files, SWIFT) and implementing BAM and Electronic Bank Statements (EBS)
  • Experience with integration of digital platforms or legacy applications with SAP via APIs and file transfers
  • SAP FICA hands-on experience with knowledge of Convergent Invoicing is an advantage
  • Knowledge of SAP FICA integration with SAP FI is an advantage
  • ABAP code debugging capability is an advantage
  • Ability to collect business requirements and translate them for technical consultants
  • Hands-on experience preparing functional specifications, technical specifications, and conducting testing including UAT
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional English communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Organized, flexible, proactive, and result-oriented
