At AWL, you’ll work as a Mechanical Engineer with a great deal of responsibility within complex projects. You’ll not only be responsible for mechanical design, but will also play a key role in technical coordination with suppliers, colleagues, and customers. You’ll support project managers, draft specifications for critical components, and ensure that technical decisions are well-founded.

You are an experienced engineer who takes ownership, thinks ahead, and knows how to engage colleagues in technical decisions. Depending on your ambitions, there are plenty of opportunities for career advancement, such as moving into a Project Engineer role.

What do we expect?

  • A completed bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a comparable field;
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the machine building industry;
  • Experience designing complex machines and drafting technical specifications;
  • You’re accustomed to independently liaising with suppliers, colleagues, and other stakeholders and take responsibility for technical decisions;
  • You’re proactive, take initiative, know how to get people on board, and feel comfortable in a role where you take ownership of challenging projects.

What will you do?

  • Designing, developing, and refining machines and modules for complex client projects;
  • Drafting technical specifications for long-lead items and critical components;
  • Serving as the technical point of contact for suppliers and independently coordinating technical solutions;
  • Supporting project managers with technical issues, risks, and planning;
  • Coordinating technical work within projects and mentoring less experienced engineers;
  • Evaluating, improving, and standardizing mechanical designs;
  • Actively contributing to new concepts and innovative solutions for the heavy equipment market.

What do we offer?

  • AWL Academy with over 50 training programs focused on both hard and soft skills;
  • Participation in our wellness program “Boost Your Life,” including boot camp, spinning, and fresh fruit in the office;
  • Plenty of opportunities for input, training, and professional development.

This will be your day

8:00

You start the week full of enthusiasm. After a cup of coffee with your colleagues, you get to work. You set your deliverables for the week and block off some time for ad hoc tasks. You’re actively working on two projects, which gives you a lot of energy!

10:00

You dive back into your project, where you’re already in the final phase of the design concept. Today, you’re preparing a presentation for the client to showcase the progress and the final design.

13:00

After your lunch break and a walk outside with your colleagues, you continue working on your project. A meeting is scheduled to hand off parts of your project to your colleagues in hardware engineering. They’ll take over the specifications.

15:00

You receive a call from the shop floor regarding one of your projects. Since you’re the Engineer, you naturally act as an advisor and help your colleagues on the shop floor solve problems and ultimately deliver a fantastic machine!

16:30

Time flies! It’s already 4:30 PM! You wrap up the day and shut down your laptop. You head home feeling satisfied.
