Leverage your understanding of market trends to adapt strategies and stay ahead in a competitive landscape. Start as a Wholesale Strategy Consultant within Rabobank’s Clients and Portfolio Management Department.

You and your job

Rabobank is an international corporate bank, serving clients across global Food & Agriculture value chains, the Energy Transition, and other sectors. In a world shaped by rapid technological innovation, the rise of AI, shifting geopolitical dynamics, evolving food systems, and the growing impact of climate change, businesses face increasing complexity and uncertainty. Navigating these developments thoughtfully is essential to continue supporting clients' long-term success.

Within Clients & Portfolio Management (CPM), Rabobank is seeking a Wholesale Strategy Consultant to join the Wholesale Segment Strategy (WSS) team. The team drives growth and helps shape the strategic direction of Rabobank’s International Wholesale & Rural (W&R) business. You will support the Strategy Project Owners/Leads in identifying opportunities within existing and adjacent businesses, contributing to the ambitious growth agenda.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on wholesale strategy while collaborating with a diverse and international team of experts and bankers. CPM is a global department that sets direction and steers the business in making the right fact-based trade-offs. It is organized to empower regions and global business lines to live the strategy and execute on the growth agenda.

Within CPM, the WSS team is a team of strategy consultants with the objective to define the overarching growth strategy and specifically W&R’s positioning on F&A, Energy, and potential other activities. Moreover, it refines the transition approach of W&R by addressing the required target states and transition perspective towards those targets, optimizing for opportunities, sustainability impacts, and risks, and realizing an improved CROIC.

Most important responsibilities

  • Support strategic decision-making by providing clear perspectives on growth, sustainability, and risk appetite.
  • Work with the Strategy Project Owners/Leads to continuously shape and refine the W&R strategy through the rolling strategy process.
  • Contribute to translating strategy into clear direction on several themes or initiatives, and independently drive these projects to a successful end.
  • Serve as a sparring partner for the Strategy Project Owners/Leads and other internal and senior stakeholders.

You and your talent

You are a strategy professional with a passion for shaping strategic direction and translating insights into actionable strategies and business cases. Your experience in strategy consulting and international banking makes you a valuable asset. It’s important that you recognize yourself in the profile below:

  • Holding a master's degree, ready to drive impactful change.
  • At least 4 to 5 years of experience in strategy consulting, preferably gained at a leading consulting firm advising financial services and/or banking organisations.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to connect individual topics and projects to the broader business context and long-term strategic direction of W&R.
  • Excellent structuring and communication skills, able to distil complex topics into clear and compelling recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Previous experience collaborating on clear, high-quality business cases and strategy presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Analytical skills that translate complex, fact-based data into strategic, actionable insights.
  • Understanding of market trends and the ability to adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders in complex organizational environments.
  • A natural curiosity and a high focus and ability to deliver quality on time.
  • The ability to connect with peers in the various domains of the bank to manage stakeholders relevant for successful strategy development and approval.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, spoken and written, is required for this role.
  • Applicants must already be living in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work in the Netherlands.
