Do you have the expertise and passion to combine behavioural research with behavioural change? Do you want to contribute to building an ethical and resilient organization?
In short
The Behaviour & Ethics team (part of Compliance/SIM – Resilience & Prevention) plays an important role in strengthening an enabling work climate within ABN AMRO. An organization where doing the right thing is at the heart of every decision and action.
We are looking for a Domain Expert within the Behaviour & Ethics team who not only helps anticipate and mitigate behavioural risks, but also enables the organization to learn from incidents and integrity breaches. By identifying behavioural and cultural root causes and translating insights into lessons learned and behavioural interventions, you help prevent recurrence and strengthen the organization’s risk culture and resilience. You will contribute to safeguarding an enabling work environment where colleagues are empowered to do the right thing and where a sound risk mindset is central.
You conduct behavioural research to identify barriers to desired behaviour and root causes of undesired behaviour, integrity breaches and other manifestations of behavioural risk. You analyse where behavioural drivers or patterns contribute to these issues and translate these insights into lessons learned, targeted interventions, practical advice and other improvements.
Using evidence-based behavioural science approaches, you design, test and measure behavioural interventions to ensure effective results. In doing so, you help address root causes rather than symptoms, reduce the likelihood of recurrence and enable the organization to learn from incidents and integrity breaches.
As a research lead, you manage behavioural research projects and ensure a structured and strategic approach. You apply scientific methods and techniques to make behaviour measurable, including qualitative and quantitative research, interview and conversation techniques, surveys, and the soft control framework (conduct drivers).
You set strategic priorities for behavioural research and provide ad-hoc advice by translating insights into a broader organizational context.
Collaboration is key: you work closely with various disciplines inside and outside Compliance & SIM, including HR, client units, and other stakeholders. Through this collaboration, you ensure an integrated approach that leverages behavioural insights to strengthen risk culture and promote a supportive work environment. You help embed behavioural knowledge and change into the organization’s way of working.
The Behaviour & Ethics team (6 FTE) is part of Compliance & SIM | SIM Resilience & Prevention and has a mission to build a resilient organization where doing the right thing—beyond mere compliance—is at the heart of every decision and action. To achieve this, the team promotes a supportive work environment and activates ethical reflection through initiatives such as the code of conduct, the Ethics Council, dilemma dialogues, and methodologies to identify, mitigate, and prevent behavioural risks. Our team consists of experts with diverse backgrounds and a shared passion for ethics, research, and behavioural change.
You report to the Head of Behaviour & Ethics, Resilience & Prevention.
You are analytical and able to approach complex issues pragmatically, making them understandable for different audiences. You have extensive experience in (leading) behavioural research, interventions and change, preferably supported by an academic degree in psychology, criminology, or a similar behavioural or social science discipline. You are a strong, persuasive discussion partner who builds effective collaborations and translates insights into clear reports, advice and concrete actions that drive sustainable behavioural change and ethical behaviour. You have extensive experience in designing and implementing behavioural interventions, lessons learned processes and guiding organizations through complex change, preferably in relation to integrity, conduct or culture. You know how to advise (senior) management and effectively navigate diverse stakeholders and interests. Fluent in Dutch and English.
