Senior Graphite Engineer

Your role

As Graphite Expert, you will be part of the multidisciplinary Nuclear Department within the Innovations Division. You will take a leading role in the engineering of graphite as well as the definition, specification, and qualification of graphite materials and components for the HTGR core and related systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-design the reactor internals;
  • Interpret simulations and use this to optimize the design;
  • Define and develop graphite specifications;
  • Assess graphite behaviour under irradiation, oxidation, thermal cycling, and mechanical loading;
  • Lead material selection and qualification processes;
  • Develop and review test programs;
  • Ensure alignment with nuclear codes and standards;
  • Support safety analyses;
  • Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

What we expect from you

  • MSc or PhD in relevant field;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Expertise in graphite behaviour under irradiation and high temperature;
  • Expertise in graphite interactions with other materials;
  • Experience with material qualification programs;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety frameworks;
  • Excellent communication skills.
