As a real pioneer you coach your colleague engineers towards our new tech organization. You really know how to empower people through major technical changes at NN. As a result we optimally serve our customers.

At NN, we are building a future-ready, standardized IT landscape that enables innovation, scalability, and resilience across our international business. A key pillar of this ambition is our Managed Infrastructure as a Service (Managed IaaS) platform – a secure, compliant-by-default, and automated infrastructure solution supporting workloads hosted on both private cloud and AWS.

The Managed IaaS domain focuses on traditional VM-based workloads and embeds compliance, resilience, and operational controls by design. The workloads are hosted in our on-prem Private Cloud platform or in AWS. Our operating model allows product teams in the Business to focus on delivering business value while Managed IaaS provides the foundational capabilities required for reliable operations. The MIAAS team is a hybrid team, with engineers divided between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. We are searching for an Engineering Manager for the Dutch engineers.

What you are going to do

There is a lot happening in the Managed IaaS domain and that’s when you come in.

As an Engineering Manager within the Managed IaaS domain, you will support DevOps teams responsible for building and operating this strategic platform. You will combine strong people leadership with a solid technical foundation to deliver high-quality, reliable infrastructure services that form the backbone of NN’s hybrid cloud strategy. You will oversee the operational performance of the MIAAS teams and steer improvements and efficiency measures. You will help and guide the engineers in your team to develop themselves in the area of Managed IaaS and new technologies like agentic AI. You are HR responsible for the team and truly enjoy helping engineers grow professionally and as human beings.

Your responsibilities

  • You guide the teams towards modern engineering and help ensure product quality
  • You develop and evolve the engineers based on your technical experience and craftsmanship
  • Establish objectives and quarterly key results on learning and development together with the domain’s leadership team, such as the Product Manager, Product Owners and Domain Architect
  • You facilitate the quarterly PI process within MIAAS and align on the quarterly KPIs and objectives
  • You keep an eye on the overall operational performance of the MIAAS teams and align with Group IT process management and the MIAAS Product Owners in case of operational escalations
  • You effectively manage NN’s People Cycle process and use NN HR conversations, processes and tools to manage staffing, hiring, selection, onboarding and retention
  • You define the objectives for and with the team, including development paths for skills and team maturity
  • You create strategic workforce planning for the team composition in line with the product strategy
  • You work closely together with the MIAAS Product Owners, MIAAS Product Manager and the Head of Engineering to improve our products and services
  • You help build the right culture by organizing engagement among engineers, making sure they enjoy their job and that learning new skills becomes normal. You also ensure the teams create a mindset of solving customer problems and delivering product value

Who you are

You motivate and inspire your team and are always in control through your structured way of working. You are customer driven and you set priorities based on value and priority.

You’ve got no problem with making tough decisions. When you say “no,” you have well-argued reasons to back it up. You have an intuitive sense of what the organization needs while also being able to empathize with the customer. You always think in terms of solutions and inspire others to bring out the best in themselves. You meet the following requirements:

  • Experience as an IT Service Manager or similar, in complex organizations with many different stakeholders
