Your job

As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of our global network and security infrastructure. As one of the senior members of the team, you will help shape the future direction of the network domain while ensuring a secure, stable, and compliant environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and highly available network infrastructure.
  • Lead network and security-related projects and technical improvements.
  • Drive network security, resilience, and operational excellence across the environment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, the CISO organization, and external service providers.
  • Contribute to audits, risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Act as a senior technical expert within the team, mentoring colleagues and helping to define the network roadmap.

ABN AMRO Clearing is a leading global clearing and financial infrastructure provider, supporting professional trading firms, financial institutions, and corporates across multiple asset classes and markets.

You will be part of a highly skilled international team operating across Europe, the US, and APAC. Our environment is complex, fast-paced, and critical to the continuity of global financial markets. Your work directly contributes to the stability and security of these markets. We work closely with our data center outsourcing partner and collaborate with stakeholders across IT, security, and business domains. You will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives while also supporting day-to-day operations. And you'll have the possibility to grow both technically and professionally in a critical function.

We value collaboration and team interaction, and expect you to work onsite in Amsterdam approximately three days per week.

Your profile

You are an experienced Network Security Engineer who thrives in a complex, mission-critical environment where performance, resilience, and security are paramount. You combine deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and take ownership of network and security challenges from design through implementation and operations. You are comfortable working independently, collaborating across global teams, and driving solutions in a fast-paced environment where stability, availability, and security are non-negotiable.

In order to be succesful in this position you bring:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking and network security, preferably in a regulated or financial-services environment.
  • Strong experience with Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, and core network protocols (e.g., BGP and OSPF).
  • Proven experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS solutions.
  • Experience designing and supporting secure, highly available data center and enterprise network environments.
  • Strong understanding of security-by-design principles and secure network architecture.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
