At Delft Circuits, we’re looking for a Fabrication & Test Engineer to work at the heart of our flex fabrication innovation. As a Fabrication and Test Engineer (Process Engineer in our function house), you will spend most of your time in the lab fabricating flexes for R&D testing, exploring new capabilities, and running structured experiments to strengthen and refine our process flows. We are looking for two new engineers: for the Research team and for the Process Development team. With a structured and practical mindset, you turn assignments into clear daily execution plans, document results with precision, and proactively propose the next steps that move us forward.

About Delft Circuits

At Delft Circuits, we’re pushing the boundaries of cryogenic electronics with our flagship Cri/oFlex® platform—the world’s first fully integrated cryogenic I/O solution for quantum computing. Based in Delft, Netherlands, our diverse team of engineers, physicists, and innovators combines deep technical expertise with an open, collaborative culture—where ideas are shared, challenges are tackled head-on, and impact is real.

From hands-on lab work to supporting our customers to scale their quantum computers, at Delft Circuits, your work truly matters.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Process Experimentation & Development: Running lab-based process experiments to explore parameter windows and improve repeatability and robustness
  • Fabrication & Validation: Fabricating and validating flexible electronic circuits and test structures to validate new capabilities and customer-driven requirements
  • Quality Control Support: Applying quality control checks during development (microscope inspection, electrical checks), supporting quality control operations when needed, and logging failures
  • Process Improvement & Troubleshooting: Implementing and refining different production processes, troubleshooting issues, and driving practical improvement
  • Documentation & Communication: Clearly documenting experiments, recipes, settings and results, communicating outcomes to the team, and using strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with process and product development, systems engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure new capabilities are manufacturable and integrated into the process flow

What you bring

  • HBO degree preferred in Nanofabrication, Microelectronics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in a laboratory, cleanroom or high-tech manufacturing environment, gained through professional work, internships or substantial academic projects
  • Experience with microfabrication / semiconductor fabrication processes such as thin-film deposition, lithography, etching, or other relevant semiconductor processing steps
  • Comfortable using diagnostic tools and measurement equipment (microscope, basic electrical tests)
  • Structured, practical approach to experimentation; familiarity with Design of Experiments and Six Sigma methods is a strong plus
  • Independent working style with proactive communication and strong problem-solving skills

Bonus points for

  • Hands-on experience with flexible substrates or polymer-based processes
  • Six Sigma training/certification (e.g., Green Belt) or demonstrated continuous-improvement experience
  • Chemical process knowledge relevant to fabrication and surface preparation

Why Join Delft Circuits?

At Delft Circuits you will work on cutting-edge cryogenic electronics that supports the scale-up of quantum technologies. You’ll be part of a team that values curiosity, ownership and practical execution. You’ll have the space to run experiments properly, turn data into robust processes, and see your work translate into customer-impacting hardware. We offer a collaborative environment that values inventive “beyond-the-box” thinking.

  • A 6 month contract with intention to extend
  • CAO Metalektro
  • Pension scheme (PME)
  • Travel reimbursement (choose between € 0,23/ km or public transport subscription)
  • 30 vacation days per year

You’ll be working from our headquarters at the Kabeldistrict in Delft, featuring a 200 m² lab, a workshop, dedicated assembly and testing areas, and a modern office space.

Together with our customers, like national laboratory, a Blue-chip corporation, or an ambitious professor, Delft Circuits makes quantum technologies a reality. Our i/o modules can be found in quantum computers, quantum internet devices and in (quantum based) sensors.
We’re about 40 people working in teams, ranging from R&D to Design and Production. Our atmosphere breathes enthusiasm and creativity - building our products and company together!
