At Acomo, this role offers breadth and impact. You will work at Group level while staying connected to the operating companies where sustainability needs to become practical and actionable.

Job description

About Acomo

ACOMO N.V. listed on the Euronext Amsterdam (ACOMO), is the holding company of an international group of companies that source, trade, process, package and distribute conventional and organic food products and food ingredients for the global food and beverage industry. Acomo connects suppliers and customers in more than 100 countries. The Group operates through a decentralised model, with operating companies active across different product categories, markets and geographies.

We are looking for a hands-on and ambitious Climate & Sustainability Data Specialist to help further develop and implement Acomo’s climate agenda, strengthen ESG data processes and support sustainability reporting.

You will join the holding team in Rotterdam, where we work pragmatically, with short lines, a high level of involvement and room to take ownership. You will work closely with the Group Sustainability Manager and collaborate with sustainability, finance, HR, quality and operational colleagues across Acomo’s operating companies.

What will you do?

In this role, you will focus on climate strategy, data and practical implementation across the Group. You will help further develop and execute Acomo’s climate agenda, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and entity roadmaps.

ESG reporting and data consolidation are also an important part of the role. Reliable data is the foundation for better decision-making, target-setting and progress monitoring. You will therefore not only collect and report data, but also challenge it, understand what drives the numbers, translate insights into action and help entities move from reporting towards impact.

Your main responsibilities

Climate strategy and broader sustainability support

  • Further improve calculations of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with the GHG Protocol and Acomo’s existing methodologies.
  • Support the development of Acomo Group ambitions and work with operating companies through practical roadmaps. This means you will help translate climate (data) insights into concrete actions, reduction opportunities and work together with different stakeholders in a complex setting.
  • Contribute to improving the quality, consistency and usefulness of climate data across the Group.
  • Help ensure that relevant sustainability policies, procedures and guidance are further developed and implemented across the Group.
  • Depending on your background and interests, support other sustainability topics such as nature & biodiversity, human rights due diligence and responsible sourcing.

ESG data, reporting and controls

  • Coordinate the quarterly ESG reporting process across Acomo’s operating companies, including collecting, consolidating, validating and managing ESG data, metrics and KPIs using systems such as Tagetik, ensuring accuracy and completeness as well as identifying trends, anomalies and improvement areas.
  • Support the integration of new entities into Acomo’s sustainability reporting processes and systems.
  • Engage with data owners across finance, sustainability, quality, HR and operations to understand where figures come from, why performance changes and how data quality can be improved.
  • Support the preparation of ESG performance reports and other internal sustainability updates.
  • Support the preparation of non-financial data for the annual report and ESG disclosures. In this period, you help facilitate the audit process by coordinating between data owners, the Group Sustainability team and external auditors.

Who are you?

You are analytical, yet pragmatic; structured but creative. You have a heart for sustainability and enjoy building a vision for the value chain. You like working with data, but you also want to understand the business reality and the people behind the numbers. You are comfortable asking critical questions, engaging with different stakeholders and translating complex sustainability topics into clear insights and practical next steps.

You do not need a fully defined structure around you to be effective: Bringing clarity where needed? Building processes that are both robust and workable? No problem.

What do we offer?

  • We repay your efforts with a market-competitive salary, depending on your experience.
  • 8% holiday allowance and accident insurance.
  • A variable bonus on top of your salary because your impact deserves to be rewarded.
  • 30 annual holiday days.
  • An environment where you have plenty of room to grow, freedom to attend conferences, seminars, and events that inspire you.
  • A vibrant office in the heart of Rotterdam, where collaboration is easy, decisions are made quickly, and everyone is approachable.
  • Drinks and events to celebrate our successes.

Job requirements

What do you bring?

  • Around 3–4 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, carbon accounting, climate strategy, consulting or a related field.
  • Experience with Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions calculations.
  • Good understanding of the GHG Protocol and relevant ESG reporting developments, such as CSRD/ESRS.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with ESG data collection, consolidation, validation and reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work with colleagues across different entities, functions and countries.
  • Ability to challenge data and assumptions in a constructive way.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic and able to move from analysis to action.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • Affinity with reporting systems and data tools; experience with Tagetik, PowerBI or similar systems is a plus.
