The Product Analytics team turns behavioural and product data into insights that help evaluate product changes, improve user experience and influence product strategy. The team works closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Engineers and senior stakeholders to understand user behaviour and identify opportunities with the greatest customer and business impact.
About the role
In this role, you will lead the Product Analytics scope for one or more of Elsevier’s fast-growing, innovative, world-leading products. You will be part of an analytics team of 30+ analysts located in Amsterdam and London, working with product teams and stakeholders across the US, UK and the Netherlands.
Responsibilities
Understand user behaviour
Use behavioural and transactional data to measure user journeys, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion and satisfaction. Use techniques such as funnel analysis, cohort analysis, user segmentation and feature adoption to generate actionable insight.
Define product success
Partner with Product Managers and other stakeholders to translate customer needs, product strategy and business objectives into clear product goals (OKRs) and success metrics.
Evaluate product changes
Design measurement approaches for new product features, launches and iterations, including A/B testing and experimentation, to determine whether changes are driving customer and business outcomes.
Use AI-assisted practices
Use AI tools to accelerate analytical workflows, including SQL and Python development, exploratory analysis, visualisation and documentation. Apply agentic working practices by breaking complex questions into clear briefs for AI assistants and applying human judgement and validation checks to ensure results are accurate and useful.
Communicate insight clearly
Tell compelling stories with data through concise analysis, presentations, and dashboards. Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to audiences ranging from product squads to senior leadership. Help stakeholders interpret results and make confident, data-informed decisions.
Improve measurement quality
Work with Product and Engineering colleagues to ensure the right product data capture is in place. Define tracking requirements that make future product decisions easier and more reliable.
Requirements
Product analytics experience
A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Product Analytics, Digital Analytics or a closely related analytical role where you have used data to influence product decisions, feature development or customer experience improvements. Whether you are an emerging senior analyst or a seasoned expert, we would love to hear from you.
Technical proficiency
Stakeholder influence
Ability to work effectively with Product Managers, UX Designers, Engineers and senior stakeholders. Answer strategic questions, advocate a data-driven culture and empower stakeholders to use data well. Challenge assumptions constructively to influence strategy and prioritise product roadmaps to deliver better outcomes.
Communication and collaboration
Fluent in English, with strong presentation skills. Comfortable working in cross-functional and culturally diverse teams across different locations and time zones.
Growth mindset
Enthusiasm for learning, curiosity about users and products, and a positive, humble attitude. You are not afraid to ask questions and are comfortable working with ambiguity.
