About the role
As a Senior Consultant Data, you understand that organizations that gain control of their data create the foundation for what comes next, such as AI. You advise at the highest level, working closely with executives, directors, and Chief Data Officers (CDOs) on strategy, organizational design, and the initiatives that create lasting impact.
Your contribution goes beyond advisory work. You know the organizations, stakeholders, and challenges that matter, and you know how to engage decision-makers. You generate new opportunities, open doors for colleagues, and help grow the practice through your network, credibility, and reputation.
The scope of the role is broad, ranging from data maturity and data governance to data ecosystems and responsible data sharing. You understand the strategic role of data within organizations and collaborations, and what is required to create a valuable data landscape, enable effective data sharing, and establish the organizational capabilities needed to manage and maintain data responsibly. You work closely with experts in data governance, change management, architecture, security, and privacy, combining these areas of expertise into sustainable solutions that deliver long-term value.

We work closely together, share knowledge, and strengthen one another to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our culture is open and built on trust, with room for both ambition and humanity. We listen, celebrate successes, and hold each other accountable, always with attention to people as well as to quality.
European outlook, locally rooted
With teams in the Netherlands and the DACH region, you work in an organization with a broad, European perspective. At the same time, the culture remains personal and close-knit. This gives you the opportunity to collaborate internationally at a high level, within a committed and engaged team.
Culture as a catalyst
Our culture is a key reason why colleagues enjoy working at Highberg. We place trust in our people, value initiative, and believe it is important that everyone can continue to develop. This enables you to get the best out of yourself, while together contributing to sustainable growth.
Your role as Senior Consultant Data
- You advise organizations on data governance and help senior leaders translate data strategy into practical implementation. You keep up with developments such as European legislation and emerging technologies and help organizations determine how these changes should be incorporated into their operating models and governance structures.
- You support clients in establishing data ownership, defining roles and responsibilities, and working closely with Chief Data Officers (CDOs), data owners, and data stewards. You design data strategies, policies, and governance frameworks for the responsible sharing and use of data, while ensuring alignment with privacy, security, and ethical standards.
- You facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions where fundamental questions are addressed: What do we mean by data? Who owns it? What level of quality is required for specific purposes? How should quality be measured and managed? Working closely with colleagues from change management, enterprise architecture, security, and privacy disciplines, you help clients embed sustainable, data-driven ways of working throughout their organizations.
- In addition, you build long-term client relationships by actively maintaining your professional network, identifying opportunities, and translating them into new engagements and partnerships. You contribute to the growth of the team by sharing knowledge, helping to develop propositions and frameworks, and supporting colleagues where needed.
Who are you?
- You have a clear vision of what successful data use and data sharing require in practice. You understand why adoption efforts can fail, how governance should be organized, and when AI initiatives are appropriate versus when fundamental data capabilities need further development.
- You are proactive and entrepreneurial. Rather than waiting for assignments, you identify opportunities, connect with the right stakeholders, and drive initiatives forward. You communicate effectively at every level of an organization, whether discussing architecture with a CTO, governance and risk with a security officer, or organizational impact with a team manager. You know when to dive into detail and when to simplify complex concepts.
- You have the ability to create change within organizations through a combination of expertise, influence, and organizational awareness. You enjoy sharing your perspectives and are recognized as a credible voice on data-related topics. You build long-term relationships based on trust and expertise, resulting in new opportunities and lasting partnerships.
- You are AI-literate and know how to leverage data and AI to enhance analyses and improve processes and governance challenges.
What are we asking?
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Management, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and a strong command of English.
- You have a proven track record as a consultant or advisor in the data domain, with extensive experience in leadership roles at program or project level.
- You possess strong expertise in data strategy and understand how to guide organizations from foundational data capabilities toward AI-driven solutions.
- You also have a demonstrated commercial track record, having successfully developed and expanded business opportunities based on trust, expertise, and long-term relationships.
- An established network within the public sector is essential. You are familiar with key decision-makers and are recognized as a trusted and valued advisor within your professional network.
What are we offering?
- Attractive and comprehensive employment conditions: a salary €4.500 – €8.000, excluding holiday allowance, with variable compensation aligned with the responsibility and impact of your role, complemented by paid leave, mobility options, and a pension scheme.
- The best of two worlds: the intellectual sharpness and quality of a high end consultancy firm, combined with the agility and engagement of an entrepreneurial organization.
- Responsibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurship: from the very start, you take ownership in projects and client work, with plenty of room to take initiative, supported by experienced colleagues. A structured development cycle with coaching from partners and development coaches, offering strong growth and career opportunities.
- Collaborating in an accessible environment: you work in a setting where decision making is close to the action and ideas quickly gain traction.
- Flexible working with strong connection: hybrid working is possible, combined with regular moments where we come together for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and team activities such as inspiring sessions and the Highberg Festival.
