As an AI Consultant, you help organizations gain control over the use of AI and develop a clear vision of what AI can mean for their business. The question is rarely whether AI is relevant. The real question is how to leverage AI in a valuable and responsible way across technology, strategy, processes, governance, and culture.

You operate at the intersection of technology and business. You immerse yourself in clients’ goals and ways of working, translate the latest AI developments into practical applications, and work with clients to build strategies that go beyond proof-of-concept initiatives. You won’t do this alone. You will collaborate closely with colleagues specializing in data governance, change management, architecture, security, and privacy to create solutions that are sustainable and scalable over the long term.

About the role

At Highberg, everything revolves around people. Around colleagues who want to make a difference, take ownership, and work together based on trust and craftsmanship. We believe real change happens when strategy, execution, and humanity come together. That starts with our own team. This is why we create an environment where you can continue to grow, apply your expertise, and expand it further. An environment where you can make lasting impact.

Bringing strategy to life

At Highberg, you are not a remote advisor. You work closely with clients on challenges that truly matter, from strategy through to implementation. This allows you to make an immediate impact and see the results of your work in practice.

Collaborative, human, and professional

We work closely together, share knowledge, and strengthen one another to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our culture is open and built on trust, with room for both ambition and humanity. We listen, celebrate successes, and hold each other accountable, always with attention to people as well as to quality.

European outlook, locally rooted

With teams in the Netherlands and the DACH region, you work in an organization with a broad, European perspective. At the same time, the culture remains personal and close-knit. This gives you the opportunity to collaborate internationally at a high level, within a committed and engaged team.

Culture as a catalyst

Our culture is a key reason why colleagues enjoy working at Highberg. We place trust in our people, value initiative, and believe it is important that everyone can continue to develop. This enables you to get the best out of yourself, while together contributing to sustainable growth.

Your role as Consultant AI

  • Develop AI strategies and translate them into practical roadmaps, from initial pilots to organization-wide adoption and integration.
  • Advise clients on what is required to make AI successful, including roles, processes, data, architecture, platform selection, and approaches for adoption and maintenance.
  • Lead AI initiatives from start to finish, maintaining oversight, ensuring alignment between technology and business objectives, and helping clients make the right decisions when it matters most.
  • Design and facilitate workshops and sessions for management and employees, ranging from awareness and inspiration to concrete implementation decisions. You know when to dive deeper and when to simplify.
  • Build long-term client relationships by actively maintaining your network, identifying opportunities, and translating them into new engagements and partnerships.
  • Invest in the team by sharing knowledge, contributing to the development of propositions, and supporting colleagues wherever possible.

Who are you?

  • You are passionate about how AI can genuinely help organizations improve, not as a hype-driven technology, but as a means to make better decisions, improve operations, and create value.
  • You have not only advised on AI but also built AI solutions yourself. You understand what it takes to bring an AI application from prototype to production, including key decisions around models, data, integrations, and infrastructure.
  • You are experienced in working with a variety of AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs). You are proactive, take initiative, and quickly find your way within complex organizations.
  • You communicate clearly and have a strong understanding of organizational, political, and stakeholder dynamics.
  • You act as a thought leader in the AI domain, actively following developments, forming your own perspective, and guiding colleagues and clients through the opportunities and trade-offs related to platforms, LLMs, and technical solutions.
  • You have a commercial mindset, identifying opportunities within existing client relationships and turning meaningful discussions into concrete follow-up proposals. An existing professional network is considered a plus.
  • You are AI-literate and know how to leverage data and AI to enhance analyses and improve processes and governance challenges.

What are we asking?

  • You have completed a bachelor’s or master’s (HBO/WO), preferably in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch, with a good command of English.
  • You have several years of experience as a Data Scientist, AI Engineer, Consultant, Subject Matter Expert, or Project Manager in the field of Data and AI.
  • You have proven experience in implementing AI solutions within organizations and a well-founded vision on selecting the most appropriate technical solutions for specific business challenges.

What are we offering?

  • Attractive and comprehensive employment conditions: a salary of €4000 – €5000, excluding holiday allowance, with variable compensation aligned with the responsibility and impact of your role, complemented by paid leave, mobility options, and a pension scheme.
  • The best of two worlds: the intellectual sharpness and quality of a high end consultancy firm, combined with the agility and engagement of an entrepreneurial organization.
  • Responsibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurship: from the very start, you take ownership in projects and client work, with plenty of room to take initiative, supported by experienced colleagues. A structured development cycle with coaching from partners and development coaches, offering strong growth and career opportunities
  • Collaborating in an accessible environment: you work in a setting where decision making is close to the action and ideas quickly gain traction.
  • Flexible working with strong connection: hybrid working is possible, combined with regular moments where we come together for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and team activities such as inspiring sessions and the Highberg Festival.
