Internship – Marketing Services Procurement

“Balancing the analytic world of procurement with creativity of marketing has been an incredible learning experience at Heineken. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities for personal growth”.

Zofia, former intern of the team

The internship

You may wonder what Marketing Procurement is.

Marketing procurement is the process of sourcing and managing external marketing services and resources, such as advertising agencies, media buying, and production services, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, and value.

It involves negotiating contracts, ensuring efficient use of the marketing budget, and fostering strategic relationships to maximize ROI. The goal is to align marketing needs with financial and operational efficiency.

What does this internship entail?

As a valued member of the overall Commerce, Professional and Business Services team, you would be working within the Marketing Services team. This will involve:

  • Supporting the Global Category Managers with translating global strategies into market plans and liaising with a range of stakeholders in HGP (Heineken Global Procurement), Commerce Teams (mainly Marketing Teams), and markets globally
  • Leading your own projects
  • Supporting the team in document writing and presentations
  • Developing an understanding of Marketing Services categories like ATL Creative and Production, Media, Shopper Marketing, Events, and Sponsorships
  • Possibility of negotiating some small scopes of work for brands
  • Mapping current processes and designing future processes
  • Benchmarking industry best practices
  • Analysing internal data and providing insights

Your new team and workplace

You will be part of the Procurement department; however, a procurement background or procurement studies are not specifically required.

Key stakeholders are Marketing teams, markets, and agencies. Please note there are no marketing tasks involved such as brand or media planning, for example.

Depending on the needs and your capability, you could be working on specific projects across the wider department to maximize your growth and learning experience. The team works closely with key stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation, value, and sustainability across each commerce and professional/business service category.

During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. You will be trusted and empowered to work with an entrepreneurial mindset, with guidance that suits you.

The unique you!

Energy, drive, and the ambition to grow are what make the difference at HEINEKEN. In addition, you bring:

  • Currently studying for a Master’s degree
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Strong skills using general office tools (Microsoft)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with various stakeholders
  • Comfort working independently on tasks while also being a team player
  • Assertive, pragmatic, resilient, and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to work and adapt in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical skills

For this role, the team is looking for a candidate with a willingness to learn and develop skills and capabilities across communication, commercial, contracts, sustainability, and innovation.

Even if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria, an internship is a strong opportunity to learn and grow.
