Lead Solution Engineer - Mollie Connect

Build with us

Since 2004, we've had one clear goal: to make payments and money management effortless for every business in Europe.

Today, more than 250,000 companies use Mollie to get paid, manage money and grow – with products designed to be simple, scalable, and dependable.

With 950+ Mollies across 14+ locations, we care deeply about autonomy and craft. So we work in small teams, with real ownership, and we trust you to make the right decisions.

We're building for the long term, so we provide the tools you need, processes you can rely on, and a balanced work environment to help you do work you're proud of.

Sound like your kind of place? Let's build together.

Your Impact

You will lead our Solutions Engineering team for Mollie Connect, a team of six, spread across three offices, that bridges Product and our most demanding users: platforms that embed and monetise payments and financial services through Mollie.

Your team operates at the intersection of technology, product, and commercial strategy. You translate complex business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa, from the first pre-sales conversation through implementation and beyond. Your counterparts are CTOs, solution architects, and engineering teams at Europe's most ambitious software platforms, marketplaces, and enterprise organisations.

This is a player-coach role. You'll lead and develop the team while staying deeply hands-on with our most complex and strategic engagements. You'll shape how we sell, how we implement, and how we feed learnings back into the Connect product roadmap.

What you'll ship

Lead & develop the team

  • Mentor and grow a team of six Solutions Engineers. Own hiring, performance management, and career development in partnership with our HR Business Partner.
  • Define the team's way of working and set OKRs that align with Mollie Connect's strategic priorities.
  • Align closely with Partner Management team leads to ensure seamless collaboration across commercial and technical workstreams.

Pre-sales & consultative selling

  • Lead upmarket pre-sales / upsell engagements alongside partner growth managers, acting as a trusted technical advisor to prospects and designing solutions that unlock value.
  • Develop and refine the team's consultative selling approach as we move toward larger, more complex platform partners.

Implementation consulting & technical delivery

  • Stay hands-on with the most complex integrations, particularly multi-entity setups with unique compliance, regulatory, or architectural challenges.
  • Guide the team in supporting partners from integration design through technical validation and go-live, keeping all stakeholders aligned throughout.

Product & strategic influence

  • Represent the voice of platform partners in product discussions and contribute to shaping the Mollie Connect roadmap as part of the domain leadership team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Partner Marketing, and Product Marketing to ensure our solutions and enablement materials reflect real-world partner needs.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, Sales Engineering, or a comparable role in the software/SaaS industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a team, whether as a formal team lead or in a senior player-coach capacity. You know how to develop people, set direction, and create the conditions for a team to do their best work.
  • Strong technical acumen. You're comfortable reading and discussing APIs, integration architectures, and technical documentation. You can hold your own in conversations with engineers, architects, and CTOs.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, and modern integration patterns. You understand how platforms are built and how payments fit into broader technology ecosystems.
  • Proven ability in consultative, technical pre-sales. You know how to discover needs, design solutions, and articulate value to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Experience working with complex, multi-stakeholder environments: SaaS platforms, marketplaces, or enterprise organisations with layered decision-making.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership. You thrive in environments where you need to define the path, not just follow it.
  • Fluent in English.

Good to have

  • Experience in the payments, fintech, or financial services industry.
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory challenges in multi-entity or cross-border payment setups (e.g., PSD2, KYC/KYB, marketplace fund flows).
  • Proficiency in one or more coding languages. Enough to prototype, troubleshoot, or review integration code.

Grow your way

At Mollie, growth is personal. We believe everyone should have the chance to develop their skills, explore new challenges and shape their career on their own terms.

You'll get regular feedback and performance reviews to support your development, with fair and transparent salary reviews along the way. Many Mollies move into new roles or take on new projects to stretch themselves, and we actively hire from within to help you take the next step.

No matter if you're aiming for promotion, exploring a different career path or building new skills, you'll be supported with the tools, trust and opportunities to grow your way.
