Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. The company’s mission is to make construction primarily software-defined and work towards a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labour.

It’s still the early days of building the company, offering a unique opportunity to join a high-growth, high-ambition startup environment and work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

The team is looking for a reliable working student to take ownership of the OptiTrack motion capture calibration process in the evenings and over weekends.

What you'll do

You’ll take over from the engineering team at 5pm and run the process until 11pm, and manage the entire process over the weekend from 10am to 4pm.

  • Drive robots to and from the calibration area using a Nintendo-style nunchuk controller
  • Carefully set up the test space
  • Start and monitor the automated calibration procedure
  • Log any issues encountered for engineers to address

A significant portion of the shift is supervised monitoring of an automated process, making it well suited to someone who wants to study or focus while on the clock, while still being ready to step in when needed.

You will be trained to run calibrations independently and will learn from the computer vision engineers who invented the calibration process. Safety is important, and you will also be responsible for locking up HQ once done for the day.

What we're looking for

You’re a night owl and someone the team can count on. You have sharp attention to detail and take pride in doing things right. A background in software engineering or a related technical field is a plus, as is comfort around hardware and robotics setups.

Applicants must be based in the Netherlands, eligible to work, and able to commute onsite to Amsterdam to be considered.

Why this role

This is a rare chance to get hands-on experience inside one of Amsterdam’s most exciting robotics startups. You’ll be trusted with real equipment and real responsibility from day one.

You are also welcome to come in earlier than 5pm, on days where possible, to study or work from HQ before starting your shift and learn from members of the team.
