Ubiqu builds the certified infrastructure behind digital identity wallets and trust services, powered by its proprietary Remote Secure Element technology. Trusted by organisations including KPN, Rijksoverheid and Atos, Ubiqu is at the forefront of Europe’s rapidly evolving digital identity landscape.

We’re now looking for a Cloud platform engineer to join our team and help drive the next phase of growth and scaling.

Cloud platform engineer at Ubiqu

Your tasks

As a senior Cloud Platform Engineer / SRE you are responsible for the reliability, security and scalability of the infrastructure that runs Ubiqu’s services. Working closely with our architecture, development and engineering teams, you own the platform end to end, from architecture and automation through to production operations. You will have extensive freedom to bring your own judgement and initiative to a high-assurance environment where security and uptime are non-negotiable. Concretely, you will:

  • Improve our system architecture to reduce costs while balancing security and performance;
  • Run and evolve our Kubernetes workloads across our cloud infrastructure;
  • Own our infrastructure-as-code, keeping environments reproducible and auditable;
  • Design and track metrics for platform uptime, and own our SLOs;
  • Increase observability across our systems;
  • Implement and maintain intrusion detection, automated remediation and patch management;
  • Design and operate CI/CD pipelines with proper change and release management;
  • Contribute to our eIDAS High, ETSI, SOC 2 and GDPR compliance initiatives;
  • Help mentor colleagues and set engineering standards as the team grows.

Desired skills and experience

As a suitable candidate you have:

  • A completed Master’s degree (or equivalent experience);
  • At least 5 years’ experience building and operating cloud platforms in production;
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration;
  • Deep infrastructure-as-code skills, ideally Terraform;
  • Production experience on at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure); experience with EU-sovereign / on-prem environments is a plus;
  • A solid scripting/automation background (Python / Go / Bash);
  • Hands-on experience with observability tooling and running incident response against defined SLAs/SLOs;
  • Solid grounding in cloud security and operating regulated or high-assurance environments;
  • A track record of working autonomously and taking ownership of complex systems;
  • Self-motivation to explore new technologies, applications and environments;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

In addition, you are motivated to take on a challenge and can work both independently and as a team player. Familiarity with agile methodology and scrum is a plus. You have a thorough understanding of cloud platforms and their ecosystems, and you keep track of new developments in code quality, maintainability and security. Exposure to eIDAS, ETSI or other compliance frameworks is a strong advantage.

Our offer

We offer you a challenging role in an innovative and transparent company. You will be working together with a small and enthusiastic team with a positive mindset. During your work you will have plenty of opportunities to work on different projects and deliver a meaningful contribution to our company. Your input is valued and you will be directly involved in the decision-making process. As a full-time employee of Ubiqu you can expect fair compensation, autonomy and a real say in how we build.

Who are we?

Ubiqu is a fast-growing cybersecurity company located at YES! Delft, specializing in secure digital identity solutions. We have developed an in-house authentication solution that is currently used by KPN and the Dutch government. With a strong reputation in our niche and a commitment to operational excellence, we are well-positioned for international expansion within the EU. Our team of 25 highly talented professionals values collaboration, innovation, and a supportive work culture, where every contribution counts.

Why join us?

  • Work that matters. The platform you operate underpins digital identity, signing and authentication for banks, governments and trust service providers across Europe; security and uptime here have real-world weight.
  • Real ownership. You won’t be one engineer among hundreds. You own the platform end to end and your decisions ship fast.
  • Build at the frontier of digital identity. We work directly with eIDAS High, EUDI Wallet and EU trust-infrastructure standards; you’ll be hands-on with where the industry is heading, not where it’s been.
  • A genuine engineering culture. Small, sharp team, low bureaucracy, high trust. We value judgement over process and care about doing things properly.
  • Room to grow. As we scale you’ll help set the standards and mentor the engineers who come after you, with a path into technical leadership if you want it.

Ubiqu is a cryptographic company that builds digital identities. We work on large societal challenges like digitising your passport and your driving license and help you, when you go online, to make sure you can trust the other party, when you buy online or book a hotel.
