For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. (YME), located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in our Information Systems Division.

You have the opportunity to be part of the Yamaha family.

About the role

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for all activities that contribute to ensuring the availability, resilience, security, and performance of Yamaha Motor Europe’s server, storage, virtualization, database, end user computing, and endpoint environments, such as VMware, Citrix, SQL, and managed endpoints, in line with agreed service levels.

This enables users of Yamaha Motor Europe, European distributor organizations, and, where applicable, approved third parties to reliably use Yamaha’s business applications and workplace services.

The role plays a key part in strengthening Yamaha’s operational resilience and cybersecurity posture, including alignment with EU NIS2 requirements for availability, risk management, incident preparedness, and recoverability.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer proactively identifies infrastructure-related risks, contributes to mitigation measures, and supports audit readiness and compliance evidence for infrastructure controls.

Your responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and operate Yamaha’s IT infrastructure platforms, ensuring agreed service levels are met, while working closely with a team of approximately 7 infrastructure professionals.
  • Ensure continuity and resilience of infrastructure services by minimizing business impact in the event of incidents or service disruptions. Contribute to backup, recovery, and continuity measures in line with operational resilience and NIS2 expectations for availability and recoverability.
  • Contribute to infrastructure security and risk reduction by identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, supporting secure configuration standards, and responding to security incidents affecting infrastructure platforms. Support NIS2-aligned incident preparedness, response, and audit readiness in collaboration with Information Security and other stakeholders.
  • Manage infrastructure performance and capacity, ensuring stable, scalable, and efficient operation of platforms and services. Use monitoring and trend analysis to proactively identify capacity risks, performance degradation, or resilience gaps, and initiate improvement actions.
  • Maintain accurate configuration and asset information for infrastructure components, ensuring repositories reflect the actual operational environment and support configuration control, traceability, and auditability.
  • Provide and evolve infrastructure platforms in line with defined IT standards, architectural principles, and technology direction, supporting business applications throughout their lifecycle.
  • Plan and execute lifecycle and maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and decommissioning, while supporting internal controls, security measures, and audit requirements.
  • Continuously develop infrastructure expertise by staying up to date with relevant technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and by translating these into practical improvements for Yamaha’s IT environment.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor-level working and thinking capability, acquired through education or relevant experience in IT or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a comparable enterprise IT infrastructure role, preferably in a complex or international environment.
  • Solid experience operating and supporting server, virtualization, database, and workplace platforms in business-critical environments.
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a continuously evolving technical landscape, translating new technologies and best practices into practical improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate, diagnose, and resolve infrastructure incidents.
  • A structured and resilient mindset when dealing with operational risk, availability, and service continuity, aligned with modern resilience and security expectations, such as NIS2.
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners in an international setting.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of other European languages is considered an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently within Europe when required for projects, coordination, or operational support.

Must-have technical skills

  • Enterprise infrastructure platforms, including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, virtualization platforms (VMware), and application and desktop virtualization tools such as Citrix, RES, and Provisioning Services.
  • Identity and access technologies, including Microsoft Active Directory and ADFS.
  • Backup and recovery solutions, preferably Veeam.
  • Infrastructure security fundamentals, including secure configuration, patching, vulnerability awareness, and incident response principles.
  • Strong understanding of availability, resilience, and recoverability in enterprise IT environments, aligned with NIS2 expectations.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Linux server administration.
  • Microsoft System Center suite (SCOM, SCOR, SCCM).
  • Endpoint and workplace technologies, including thin clients such as Wyse and IGEL.
  • Industrial or mobile devices, such as Android-based hand terminals.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure platforms, such as Azure or AWS.

About You!

A motivated and inspirational colleague, happy to support the business and truly devoted to customer success. You are a humble team player who is willing to learn and is not afraid to face challenges. Quality and professionalism lie close to your heart.
