We’re looking for an organised, hands-on marketer to support store launches, retail campaigns and customer experience while helping drive AOV and traffic to Wakuli bars.

Job description

Retail Marketing Internship (6 months)

4-5 days per week | Start date: August

About Wakuli

We love great coffee. That’s why we’re building an alternative coffee industry that actually works for both farmers and consumers.

By working directly with farmer groups around the world, we set up transparent, traceable export lines, roast the beans ourselves and sell the coffee straight to customers. With no unnecessary middlemen or resellers, those short supply chains help ensure farmers always get a good price.

You’ll find us in 23 (and counting) bars across the Netherlands, and online through our own platform. For customers, that means freshly roasted specialty coffee that’s easy to access, relatively affordable and seriously delicious.

We are building the new coffee brand of the 21st century with a team of like-minded innovators from all over the world. And we’re looking for you.

Your role

We’re looking for an organised, hands-on marketer to help bring Wakuli bars to life, supporting store launches, retail campaigns and customer experience while helping drive traffic and Average Order Value (AOV).

As our Retail Marketing Intern, you’ll work closely with the Retail Marketing Manager and Retail Traffic Marketing Manager to create premium retail experiences that strengthen the Wakuli brand and improve store performance.

This internship is designed for someone who wants to learn by doing. You’ll gain hands-on experience across retail marketing, customer experience, campaign execution and commercial growth in a fast-moving scale-up environment. From coordinating POS materials and supporting new store openings to testing traffic-driving initiatives, no two days will be the same.

Job requirements

You’ll be involved in both creative execution and operational excellence, helping improve customer experience while learning how strong retail marketing translates into measurable commercial impact.

What you’ll learn:

  • Retail marketing and premium brand execution
  • Store launch planning and campaign coordination
  • Customer experience and retail operations
  • Traffic-driving and local marketing initiatives
  • Commercial thinking, reporting and KPI analysis

What you’ll do:

  • Help improve store execution through retail growth projects and commercial initiatives.
  • Prepare marketing packages for new store openings, including signage, promotional materials and launch support.
  • Research, test and evaluate local initiatives that increase footfall and repeat visits for new and existing locations.
  • Coordinate POS materials and make sure bars are ready before campaign launch dates.
  • Act as a link between HQ and bars, helping retail teams with requests and keeping communication running smoothly.
  • Track campaign performance and retail KPIs through reporting and analysis.
  • Keep retail marketing materials, storage and documentation organised and up to date.

You:

  • Write and speak fluently in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • Know how to prioritise, stay organised and enjoy keeping projects running smoothly.
  • Are passionate about customer experience, people and communication.
  • Don’t mind jumping right in, being proactive, curious and not afraid to take ownership.
  • Are following a Marketing, Communication or Commercial Economics related degree.
  • Have experience working in retail or hospitality.
  • Enjoy working with data and are comfortable using Excel or spreadsheets.

What we offer:

  • Free coffee for at home and when you’re working from a bar.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the world.
  • A lot of responsibilities and a steep learning curve.
  • 1 day working from home and 4 days in the office.
  • Talented international and impact-driven colleagues with a great team spirit.

Wakuli is turning the coffee industry on its head – for the better.
How? By creating the shortest value chain in coffee and leveraging technology to connect. We're reimagining the coffee supply chain by eliminating traditional middlemen and giving coffee farmers their fair share, whilst sourcing the highest quality specialty beans straight from farmer-friends in Africa, Latin-America and Asia. We deliver this coffee freshly roasted to our customers through the my.wakuli platform.
