About the job

Your work as a virtualization engineer is varied. Every day you start together with the team to discuss ongoing tasks during the stand-up and how to align them with each other. Both within the department as well as the team we work closely together, embracing agile working methods.

Throughout the week you focus on the committed items that you work on together with your team, but you also have weeks where you focus on operations: then you run daily checks, work on incidents and address ad-hoc requests. Your work focusses on the maintenance and further development of our IT Infrastructure. Preferably you have gained experience in Enterprise environments where security and standardization are also very important.

You understand what is expected of an IT engineer regarding virtualization, storage, and IT automation. Furthermore, you have a strong vision about a secure IT infrastructure which you can communicate properly as well. • Contributing to, and ensuring that, the vision and strategy for the products within your domain are aligned with the IS/IT department strategy.
  • Translating business demand to tailored IS/IT solutions according to the expectations of the stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with other squads and departments to optimize results.

Furthermore you have:

  • expert knowledge of VMware infrastructure (VMware VCP-DCV or comparable);
  • knowledge of Enterprise storage solutions (NetApp is an advantage);
  • knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux server OS;
  • experience in creating low level designs;
  • experience in developing a business case to support infrastructure projects.

About you

  • has a (technical) bachelor or master degree;
  • has at least 5 years relevant working experience especially in a dynamic environment;
  • has experience in leading infrastructural projects;
  • has experience within a complex enterprise IT environment;
  • has strong communication skills;
  • has experience with agile working or is open-minded in adopting new ways of working;
  • has a strong will to continue to develop yourself, both on a personal and technical level;
  • is fluent in English.

What's in it for you

  • Become part of a great team in a high tech, innovative international organization
  • (International) opportunities for growth in tech-, management- and commercial roles
  • Attention for personal development and own initiative
  • A nice workplace in a modern building, where we value a good work-life balance and flexibility
  • 40 leave days per year, travel expenses and a flexible benefits à la carte package with options like purchase/sale of leave hours, internet costs, bicycle plan, company fitness, trade union contribution or relocation costs
  • Position is based on vakgroep 55/ 60 cla Metalektro-HP
