Bij Thales in Hengelo zoeken we een enthousiaste en gemotiveerde System Engineer voor het team Radar Core Products.

About the team

The tracking team consists of System Engineers that develop, maintain and evaluate the tracking building block on a functional level. The tracking building block is generally the last part of the radar processing chain, and every radar that leaves the Thales factory is armed with this building block.

About your future job

Tracking is about fusing sequences of individual measurements into estimated trajectories, and doing so in real-time. Furthermore, the tracking product is concerned with correctly classifying these trajectories, so that we report ships as ships and planes as planes, as well as enriching these trajectories with extra information such as an estimated impact point for projectiles, for example. The team focusses on the development and implementation of generic algorithms that can support a variety of systems.

Activities include among others:

  • Prototyping and analysis of tracking, data association, filtering and classification algorithms;
  • Modelling of sensors, objects and their environments;
  • Validation and performance analysis of the tracking product and new algorithms;
  • Requirement engineering and stakeholder discussions.

Keywords for this job description include:

  • Dynamic state estimation;
  • Bayesian processing;
  • Data association;
  • Stochastics;
  • Model based system engineering (MBSE);
  • Matlab/Python scripting and tool development.

Why you'd be a good match

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar;
