Job description

As our Packaging & Co-pack Buyer, you’ll own our global packaging and European co-packing categories, securing supply, managing critical external production partners, and driving both innovation and efficiency. This role mixes daily operational hustle with long-term category strategy, giving you huge influence on product quality, supply continuity, sustainability, and cost control.

You will act as the commercial and operational owner of our co-packers, ensuring capacity, performance, and alignment with Tony’s standards. You’ll bring structure where needed, improve the way we work with suppliers, and ensure our partnerships deliver impact. And above all, you’ll help ensure our iconic packaging and finished products continue to tell our story - loudly, clearly, and responsibly.

About the company

Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. The company is an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute multi-year sourcing strategies for packaging and co-packing, aligned with sustainability and business goals.
  • Act as the primary owner of co-packers, managing commercial terms, operational performance, and securing capacity in line with S&OP.
  • Build and manage a high-performing global supplier and co-packer network, driving long-term partnerships and continuous improvement.
  • Guide negotiations and contract management to balance cost, quality, service levels, and ethical standards.
  • Drive operational excellence and cross-functional collaboration to deliver NPD, manage risks, and improve ways of working.
  • Optimize cost and resilience through spend insights, savings pipelines, supplier diversification, and performance management (SRM).

What you bring

  • You bring relevant procurement experience in FMCG, food or beverage, with exposure to packaging; experience with co-packing or external manufacturing is a plus, not a must.
  • Strong understanding of supplier management, with curiosity to learn about co-packers and external production environments.
  • A proactive problem-solver who enjoys building structure and is eager to learn and take on new opportunities.
  • Strong in budgeting, cost control, PPV management, and translating strategy into execution.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable managing operational complexity and tight timelines.
  • A confident negotiator, able to build strong relationships with a wide range of suppliers and partners.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with stakeholders across Supply Chain, Product and Finance.
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and energized by a fast-paced environment with continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, and basic project management tools.
  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the office on average 3 days a week. More is fine too!
  • Believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s purpose. You live our core values: outspoken, willful, entrepreneurial and makes you smile.

Benefits

At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits provided as you help the company succeed. Tony’s is dedicated to enabling all Tonys to grow and develop their careers and therefore offers training programs, regular feedback cycles, coaching and a generous L&D budget. Additional benefits include a luxurious vegetarian lunch, company bonus, minimum of 28 holidays, inspirational team updates, unforgettable events and unlimited chocolate.

Tony’s Chocolonely wants to make all chocolate 100% slave free. Not just our chocolate, but all chocolate worldwide. Not exactly the average company, right? Instead a chocolate company whose primary goal is to resolve a social issue in the world.
