Selling complex development programs, not products

At DEMCON Life Sciences & Health, we design and realize complex (bio)medical systems and products—from early concept and feasibility to verified, validated, and certified production. As part of the DEMCON Group, we combine in-dept engineering expertise with embedded quality and regulatory compliance (ISO 13485, CE‑MDR/IVDR, FDA, GMP) to help our customers bring impactful medical innovations to market.

To accelerate our growth, we are looking for a Business Developer Life Sciences & Health who knows what it takes to sell high‑value engineering projects and who knows what it takes to open doors, create opportunities, and close high-value deals.

What are you going to do?

Your role

You are responsible for driving new business by proactively initiating, shaping, and acquiring complex development projects. This is not a product sales role. You understand long decision cycles, multiple stakeholders, technical uncertainty, and the need to build trust before business follows. You take ownership of the full commercial trajectory: from first contact and technical exploration to proposal development, negotiation, contracting.

What you will do

Sell projects, not products. Identify and convert customer challenges into substantial engineering and development projects and programs with clear business value and long‑term potential.

  • Build a strong and healthy pipeline. Proactively target start‑ups, scale‑ups, and established companies in MedTech, Biotech and related fields that are capable of sustaining meaningful annual project volumes.
  • Engage decision makers. Build trusted relationships with CEOs, CTOs, clinicians, researchers, and medical institutes, navigating complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Lead opportunities end‑to‑end. Drive opportunities from discovery and qualification through solution positioning, proposal creation, negotiation, and contract closing—working closely with DEMCON’s engineering and project management teams.
  • Translate complexity into clarity. Capture customer needs and translate them into clear project briefs and compelling value propositions that align technology, regulation, timelines, and cost.
  • Represent DEMCON externally. Be visible and credible within the Life Sciences & Health ecosystem (Benelux, DACH, Nordics, and beyond), at customer meetings, conferences, and industry networks.

What do you bring to the table?

You are a commercial professional with an entrepreneurial mindset, and you understand that sustainable success in this role requires structure, persistence, and results.

You have:

  • Proven experience in business development of complex engineering or development projects
  • A strong understanding of MedTech, Biotech environments
  • The ability to drive substantial, recurring annual sales outcomes, not incidental wins
  • Technical credibility to engage at depth, combined with a sharp focus on commercial decision‑making
  • Excellent communication skills and the flexibility to adapt to different counterparts (“chameleon” mindset)
