We are hiring a Scientist in AI, who will drive cutting-edge research in foundational models and agentic AI, with the ultimate aim to improve edible crops. You’ll (co-)initiate and contribute to a wide range of innovative research projects on for example AI-driven protein modeling, plant DNA-, protein-, and multi-modal foundation models, self- and continuous learning, and multi-agentic frameworks. Besides developing such methods, benchmarking and knowledge sharing will be key to ensure that these methods are rigorously evaluated and deployed at our shareholders and partners.

Position

As a Scientist in AI, you will play a crucial role in initiating, developing and applying innovative, data-driven solutions for a variety of research applications. Your role will be tailored to your personal strengths and ambitions, allowing you to contribute to the strategic design of our AI models, develop novel methods, benchmark and deploy these to create value from data and solve domain-specific problems. Besides working closely together with your KeyGene colleagues across teams and departments and communicating regularly with the AI and crop specialists of our shareholders, you’ll also initiate new research projects and collaborate with strong academic partners, both nationally and internationally.

You will be part of a vibrant team in AI and bioinformatics. Its members share strong interests and competences in mathematics and statistics, machine learning, computer vision, data engineering, and more, and have a passion for connecting these with domain knowledge, from crop genomics to breeding.

Your profile

  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in AI/ML, with experience in foundation models, multi-modal models and/or multi-agent frameworks being a plus.
  • Affinity with applications in the life sciences and/or genomics is an advantage (not a requirement).
  • Whilst you have a deep understanding of the theory behind AI/ML algorithms, you also enjoy hands-on working with these technologies to develop breakthrough innovations to improve edible crops
  • A natural desire to stay up to date with the latest breakthroughs in AI and translate these insights into new research initiatives
  • A curious, creative, enthusiastic, and “can-do” mindset.
  • Self-starter, able to work both independently and in a collaborative, dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment with varied teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and across all levels of expertise.

KeyGene offer

KeyGene offers a dynamic job in an exciting, highly innovative, and ambitious research company. At KeyGene, you will become part of a passionate, inviting, and collaborative team. You will be able to work on the continuous development of our technology innovation and thus contribute to our internationally recognized position. You’ll also get to visit leading AI/ML and domain conferences and receive a generous budget for training and courses to further support your development.
