Job Description

CRH are currently hiring for a Global Direct Sourcing Manager to join the Procurement team. The GDS Sourcing Manager will identify and develop potential direct suppliers in Best Cost Country, particularly in Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, to become globally competitive supply resources. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the CRH Ethical Procurement Code, while managing individual sourcing projects as identified by the Global/Regional Category teams and operating companies in Best Cost Countries, guided by the Head – Global Direct Sourcing. The GDS Sourcing Manager will act as the key GDS interface for the respective global/regional category teams and CRH operating companies.

This role will report to the Head of GDS International and will be based in Amsterdam or Dublin.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Products

  • Understand the European/APAC customers, their needs and requirements
  • Collect market information and trends and identify BCC sourcing opportunities aligned with overall category and business strategy and goals
  • Critically review these opportunities, considering all elements of supply, including total cost of ownership, manufacture, supply and after sales service
  • Work with the Category teams to influence change in the supply chain and drive out costs
  • Regularly review critical paths with the GDS/Category teams to ensure on-time delivery
  • Respond to and follow up enquiries, issues and problems raised by buyers and customers
  • Other ad-hoc projects as assigned

Suppliers

  • Build and maintain a strong vendor network in BCC with particular focus on Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Middle East to meet customers’ needs
  • Monitor and manage the selection process for new vendors to ensure they match a specific client need or new business opportunity
  • Validate that GDS suppliers meet CRH ethical and social compliance standards as well as technical and quality management competencies
  • Constantly review and evaluate factory performance to ensure that suppliers meet CRH requirements

Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a technical discipline, with 5 years procurement/sourcing experience
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality management
  • Knowledge of building materials and cement industry preferred
  • Clear and reasoned problem solving, able to work under pressure
  • Clear communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong command of English, written and spoken
