At Wakuli, we love great coffee and we’re building an alternative coffee industry that actually works for both farmers and consumers.

By working directly with farmer groups around the world, we set up transparent, traceable export lines, roast the beans ourselves and sell the coffee straight to customers. With no unnecessary middlemen or resellers, those short supply chains help ensure farmers always get a good price.

You’ll find us in 21 (and counting) bars across the Netherlands, and online through our own platform. For customers, that means freshly roasted specialty coffee that’s easy to access, relatively affordable and seriously delicious.

We are building the new coffee brand of the 21st century with a team of like-minded innovators from all over the world.

Job description

Wakuli is looking for a Community & Partnership Manager.

32 - 40 hours per week (fixed contract)

Your role

At Wakuli, we’re not only building an alternative coffee industry. We’re building a brand that lives in culture and community. We want to show up where our (future) fans are: at festivals and events across the country, in neighbourhoods around our bars, and through collaborations with exciting brands and creators.

We are looking for a Partnership & Community Manager who is equally comfortable running an activation as closing a deal. Someone who understands that a great partnership isn’t only very exciting, but that it has to have a clear business case too. And that a local event isn’t just really fun, but that it also has to drive people into our bars.

You will report directly to our Creative Director and work closely with our marketing, retail and product teams.

Job requirements

What you’ll do:

  • Build and close partnerships with brands, creators, communities and events that fit our brand values, from first pitch to signed agreement.
  • Write business cases for every potential partnership: what do we gain, what do we give and how do we measure success.
  • Grow Wakuli outside of our own channels, including social reach, press mentions, event visibility and word of mouth.
  • Plan and run local activations together with our store managers, from neighbourhood events to collaborations that bring new people into our bars.
  • Build and manage our ambassador network, from local coffee lovers to bigger creators.
  • Own Wakuli’s festival agenda from strategy to execution, build relationships with organisers, develop activations and make sure Wakuli shows up strong on the ground.
  • Build long-term relationships with festival and event organisers, so Wakuli becomes a partner they genuinely want to work with again.
  • Track and report the impact of partnerships, activations and festivals, then use those learnings to make the next one even better.

You are:

  • A connector with commercial instinct. You know how to build relationships and turn conversations into actual partnerships.
  • Experienced (3+ years) in partnerships and/or community management. You’ve taken projects from first idea to execution.
  • Commercially minded. You understand that a good collaboration should also make business sense.
  • Both strategic and hands-on. You can plan the festival calendar and still be there at 7am setting up the stand.
  • Flexible and energised by live moments. If there’s a festival on Saturday, you’re there.
  • Strong in communication: clear, proactive and easy to work with.
  • Bringing a strong network in the Netherlands.
  • Preferably Dutch-speaking and fluent in English.

What we offer:

  • Free coffee for at home and when you’re working from a bar.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the world.
  • A lot of responsibility and a steep learning curve.
  • Talented international and impact-driven colleagues with a great team spirit.
  • €3500 - €4500 monthly pay, depending on experience and based on full-time (40 hours).

Wakuli is turning the coffee industry on its head – for the better.
How? By creating the shortest value chain in coffee and leveraging technology to connect. We're reimagining the coffee supply chain by eliminating traditional middlemen and giving coffee farmers their fair share, whilst sourcing the highest quality specialty beans straight from farmer-friends in Africa, Latin-America and Asia. We deliver this coffee freshly roasted to our customers through the my.wakuli platform.
