Senior Business Data Analyst (S)

Purpose

As a Senior Business Data Analyst, you act as the single focal point for AI and analytics initiatives, owning the end-to-end lifecycle from demand intake and scoping, through estimation, requirements definition, delivery coordination, and value realization. You work at the intersection of business, data, and technology, advising stakeholders on how to translate business needs into impactful AI and analytics solutions. You ensure initiatives are well-defined and aligned with strategic objectives, while driving delivery execution and stakeholder alignment. You ensure data and solution accuracy and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary entry point for AI and analytics demands across the organization.
• Analyze business requests to assess feasibility, value, and alignment with AI and analytics capabilities.
• Challenge and refine requirements to propose enhanced use cases, KPIs, and metrics that maximize business value.
• Advise stakeholders on the most appropriate analytics or AI approach (descriptive, predictive, AI-driven, etc.).
• Act as delivery lead for AI and analytics initiatives, ensuring delivery against scope, timeline, and expectations.
• Coordinate delivery teams (BI, Data Science, Data Engineering, external partners) throughout the lifecycle.
• Work with business stakeholders to track outcomes, benefits, and improvements post-delivery.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve metrics, dashboards, and analytical models.
• Contribute to the evolution of AI and analytics ways of working, standards, and best practices.

Education

• A bachelor's degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, statistics, or related fields is required.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and business intelligence (BI) platforms is essential.
• A master’s degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) are highly recommended.

Experience

• 5+ years’ experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate strategic needs into data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Proven experience in managing or coordinating delivery of analytics, data, or AI initiatives, working across multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to define, track, and report business value, KPIs, and success metrics for analytics initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data-related issues and recommend pragmatic improvements to business processes.
• Hands-on experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery models, collaborating with Product Owners, technical teams, and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with SQL, Azure DevOps, Microsoft AI Foundry, Power BI, Git/CI-CD.
• Oil & Gas domain experience is preferred.
