We are looking for a highly motivated Data Engineering Intern to support our Disruptive Innovation team in identifying emerging opportunities and innovation white spaces. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, market intelligence, and digital product development, building scalable data pipelines and interactive tools that enable data-driven innovation.

About the role

Type: Internship (Non-thesis)

Duration: min. 6 months

Expected Start Date: ASAP

The impact you’ll make

  • Design and develop data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and transforming diverse datasets (e.g., patents, market data, consumer signals).
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and weak signals relevant to innovation.
  • Build and deploy interactive web applications (e.g., using Streamlit or similar) to democratize insights across teams.
  • Support development of data products and dashboards on platforms such as Databricks.
  • Automate data workflows and improve data accessibility for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with innovation, product, and research teams to translate business problems into data solutions.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, Gen-AI, Web-Applications;
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts (ETL/ELT, APIs, data pipelines);
  • Experience with data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy) and visualization tools;
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure, AWS) is a plus;
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with web app frameworks (Streamlit, Gradio, or similar);
  • Interest in innovation, market trends, and consumer products;
  • Familiarity with working with unstructured data (e.g., text, patents, web data);
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, exploratory environment.
