To stay ahead of the industry, we develop tomorrow’s technology today, turning bold ideas into practical solutions for offshore energy and subsea operations. Within Allseas’ Innovations department, we develop and validate technologies for the future of our fleet and equipment.

Are you curious and motivated to turn concepts into working solutions? Do you want to combine your technical background with hands-on experimentation and real-world validation? We are looking for a proactive Electrical Engineer (Medior) to strengthen our R&D team in Delft.

Your role

As an Electrical Engineer in the Innovations (R&D) unit, you contribute to the full development lifecycle, from concept exploration to design, prototyping, testing, and implementation.

You will work in multidisciplinary teams on new projects where iteration and learning are key. Your role combines engineering design, system integration, and hands-on validation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing new concepts and technologies into feasible electrical solutions;
  • Defining system architectures and high-level designs for new equipment and modifications;
  • Specifying, selecting, and integrating electrical components and subsystems;
  • Collaborating with mechanical, automation, and operational disciplines to realise integrated solutions;
  • Working with suppliers and external partners to deliver innovative systems;
  • Supporting prototyping, testing, and validation activities, both onshore and offshore;
  • Troubleshooting and improving systems during development and commissioning;
  • Taking ownership of subsystems throughout the development process.

Projects within the R&D unit include:

  • Developing new equipment to support offshore operations, such as heavy lifting and pipelay activities;
  • Motion sensor equipment for vessels, barges, and platforms;
  • Modifications to existing assets to meet the latest standards.

What Characterizes This Role

  • Focus on innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement;
  • A mix of conceptual engineering and hands-on execution;
  • High level of ownership within dynamic development projects;
  • Close collaboration in multidisciplinary teams, while also working alongside a dedicated E&I team from a different department;
  • Direct involvement in testing, commissioning, and real-world validation.

You thrive in an environment where not everything is defined yet, and where initiative and creativity are key to success.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a proactive medior engineer with a solid technical foundation, relevant hands-on experience, and a curiosity-driven mindset.

You have:

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or Sustainable Energy Technology;
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, system development, or a related R&D environment;
  • A hands-on mindset and willingness to work on prototypes and experiments;
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility;
  • Eagerness to learn, experiment, and continuously improve;
  • Practical experience with electrical systems, prototyping, testing, or commissioning through work, projects, or internships;
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to yard locations and offshore vessels (ship visits);
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; fluency in Dutch, both written and spoken, is a preference.

Working in the Innovations (R&D) Unit

You will join a collaborative R&D environment in Delft where engineers take ownership, challenge assumptions, and improve solutions. The team works closely with operations and assets to keep innovations practical and implementable. You will also work alongside two senior electrical engineers who can support and mentor you.

What we offer

Joining Allseas gives you the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with creative thinking, collaboration and down-to-earth culture at its core.

You can expect:

  • Competitive industry benchmarked salary and excellent pension;
  • Performance based salary raises and bonuses;
  • 30 holidays days per year, flexible working hours;
  • Company-sponsored fitness scheme;
  • On-the-job training, study budgets and coaching;
  • A close-knit community, BBQ’s, parties, (sportive) events and Friday afternoon drinks.
