About this role

As Head of Operations, you are a strategic architect and influential diplomat at the forefront of the logistics (Scoober) country growth. You carry end-to-end accountability for operational performance, serving as a core strategic partner to the Country Manager and bridging key stakeholders in Public Affairs and HR on high-stakes topics such as CAO negotiations, pension structures, and contracting models.

You act as the primary "voice of the business" to unions, labor inspectors, and regulatory bodies, representing JET at external government roundtables and internal town halls. Commercially, you manage the country P&L to ensure logistics is a lean competitive advantage, while fostering a data-driven culture of continuous improvement and leading a high-performing team with a global mindset.

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Architect and execute the long-term strategic roadmap for country logistics, aligning with COEs, SSC, and business growth ambitions; formulate logistics service expansion strategies to increase customer reach, amplify order volume, and enhance courier utilization.
  • Institutional Advocacy & Industrial Relations: Support the Country Manager on complex, high-stakes dossiers including CAO negotiations, pension schemes, and contracting structures; serve as a strategic partner in lobbying and engagement with unions, labor inspectors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Lead in a complex environment with external stakeholders, including local governments and industrial relations stakeholders, to support JET's position within the political landscape in alignment with Public Affairs & HR.
  • P&L Ownership & Financial Stewardship: Partner with the Country Manager to oversee and optimize the Country P&L, ensuring operational spend aligns with budgetary targets; analyze financial trade-offs between service levels, expansion speed, and cost-per-order to drive sustainable profitability.
  • Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Establish and champion a data-driven culture of continuous improvement; act as local sponsor for key projects including implementation of central strategic frameworks and high-priority taskforce initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with Product & Tech, Account Management, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to secure buy-in and ensure seamless execution of expansion plans; act as the central champion for courier needs and experience.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead a multi-layered organization of Courier Performance and Operational Performance teams, focusing on org design, succession planning, and fostering a high-performance culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify, track, and mitigate key business risks related to partner operations, network expansion, and regulatory compliance across the logistics network.

  • Outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a strong track record of effectively partnering with cross-functional teams across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strategic and creative approach to problem-solving, coupled with a self-starter attitude and a proactive willingness to tackle new challenges and opportunities in network expansion and optimisation.
  • Data-driven analytical mindset with the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex data, insights, and trends to drive strategic and operational improvements.
  • Relentlessly results-oriented with a strong bias for action, consistently going the extra mile to achieve and exceed objectives.
  • Gravitas as a skilled public speaker, capable of representing the company at institutional roundtables and navigating complex political landscapes.
  • Fluency in both English and Dutch is required.
