We are looking for an English speaking WO master student!

WWF is one of the leading organizations focused on restoring healthy river systems, supporting work on free flowing rivers and nature based solutions (NbS). WWF has been engaged on two fronts in this regard, implementing barrier removal projects and also in the growing barrier removal movement. Since starting such projects we are convinced that removing barriers in rivers is arguably one of the most effective restoration measures.

Our ambition is to work with Dam Removal Europe (DRE) coalition partners to accelerate barrier removal across the continent (also in South Eastern Europe) and focusing on three important aspects that can support us to enable the growing barrier removal movement:

  1. Policy: Promoting inclusion of barrier removal in national restoration plans
  2. Funding: Ensuring funding available for the network to grow their movement and implement barrier removal projects
  3. Knowledge & know-how: Developing capacity and standardized tools /approaches for increasing the number of barrier removals.

What will you be doing?

  • Support DRE strategy implementation with coalition partners.
  • Support the development of knowledge products for internal and external use.
  • Support the building database and stakeholder development in testing countries.
  • Support the events, marketing campaigns, and fundraising activities.

Who are we looking for?

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
  • Experience with event organization and campaigns.
  • Comfortable working in an international, multistakeholder environment.

What do we offer?

  • An internship from September 3–4 days per week, with at least one day in the Dutch WWF office.
  • €550 allowance per month, based on fulltime work.
  • An office surrounded by nature in Zeist.
