“Being in Risk Response as an intern has shown me what ‘business partner’ truly means: not observing risks from the sidelines, but working across functions globally to shape decisions, strengthen controls, and continuously improve.”

The internship

As an intern in the Risk Response team within Global Process & Control Improvement (P&CI) in Finance, you will join a multinational team supporting all HEINEKEN operating companies and global functions. You will gain hands-on experience in risk management, working across areas such as finance, sustainability, supply chain, and operations, and learning how a global organisation identifies and responds to risk end-to-end.

You will contribute to strengthening HEINEKEN’s risk resilience through a mix of analytical, operational, and project-based activities. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting risk management initiatives by preparing and contributing to workshops, control assessments, and risk analyses across operational and financial processes, helping to identify key risks and design appropriate responses
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of global risk & control frameworks (e.g. policies, rulebooks), including coordinating inputs from stakeholders, tracking updates, and ensuring consistency with enterprise risk priorities
  • Performing in-depth analysis of financial and sustainability datasets, translating data into actionable insights that support decision-making and compliance with global transparency standards (e.g. within Sustainability & Responsibility / CSRD topics)
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives by analysing current workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and working with global stakeholders to enhance ways of working and strengthen internal controls
  • Contributing to communication and visibility initiatives by supporting the development of materials, presentations, and communication strategies to engage Finance, Sustainability, and business stakeholders globally
  • Supporting knowledge and data management by maintaining and improving content across tools such as SharePoint and Power BI, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and up to date
  • Providing structured operational support to the team, including coordination activities (e.g. mailbox management, documentation, meeting preparation, and data consolidation), helping ensure smooth execution in a fast-paced global environment

You may be involved in projects across key risk domains such as Demand to Warehouse, Sustainability & Responsibility, Market to Cash, Source to Pay, Fraud Risk Management, and Financial Accounting. These projects focus on improving risk responses, enhancing processes, and strengthening compliance and control frameworks across the organisation.

You will work closely with the Risk Response team and collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Sustainability, and other business functions globally, gaining exposure to experienced professionals and real business challenges in a dynamic, international environment.

Your new team and workplace

You will join the Global Process & Control Improvement (P&CI) team within HEINEKEN’s Finance organisation, specifically the Risk Response team. This team plays a central role in helping HEINEKEN identify, assess, and respond to key enterprise risks across all global functions and operating companies.

Risk Response operates across the full value chain — from Supply Chain (Demand to Warehouse) and Commercial processes (Market to Cash), to Procurement (Source to Pay), Financial Accounting, Fraud Risk Management, and Sustainability & Responsibility (including CSRD and non-financial reporting). The team works closely with process owners and business stakeholders to design practical, end-to-end risk responses and ensure risks are managed consistently across a complex global organisation.

One of the main challenges the team addresses is translating high-level risks and strategy into tangible processes, controls, and actionable solutions that work across different markets, systems, and regulatory environments. This requires strong collaboration, analytical thinking, and the ability to balance standardisation with local realities.

The team consists of around 45 professionals based across Amsterdam, Poland, Nigeria, Singapore, and Mexico, bringing together a diverse mix of expertise in risk management, finance, process excellence, and data. The environment is dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, with strong exposure to global stakeholders and senior decision-making.

This makes it a great place to do an internship, as you will gain a unique, end-to-end view of how a multinational organisation manages risk in practice — not just from a theoretical perspective, but by contributing to real projects that impact how the business operates globally. You will work closely with experienced professionals, be exposed to a wide variety of topics, and develop both technical and stakeholder skills in a truly international setting.

During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. We trust and empower you to work with an entrepreneurial mindset. At HEINEKEN, we love bringing the outside world in and welcome fresh, new ideas with open arms. Of course, we’ll make sure you get the guidance that suits you.

The unique you!

We believe everyone has unique talents, which is why we’re looking for you! Energy, drive and the ambition to grow are what make the difference at HEINEKEN. In addition, you bring:

  • Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme (e.g. Finance, Business, Economics or similar)
  • Have a strong interest in risk management, internal control frameworks, and understanding how risks are identified and managed across a global organisation such as HEINEKEN
  • Are curious about how a multinational company translates strategy into processes, controls, and day-to-day operations across different functions and geographies
  • Have an interest in data-driven decision making, including financial and sustainability reporting (e.g. Sustainability & Responsibility / CSRD context)
  • Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Are proactive and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and international environment
  • Have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating with stakeholders across different functions and cultures
  • Have experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, SharePoint, or automation tools (e.g. Power Automate) is a strong plus
  • Are eager to learn, take ownership, and contribute ideas to improve ways of working

Even if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply. An internship is the perfect opportunity to learn and grow!
