Start Date

1st of September 2026

What you’ll do

During your internship you will be part of the HPE Defense Industry team for North & Western Europe. You will work closely with the Head of the Defense Industry vertical, based in the Netherlands.

  • The Defense Industry, driven by geopolitical factors, is rapidly changing towards the “Digital Army concept”: AI, drones, robotics, secure private cloud, real-time situational analytics and information, and multi-dimensional networks and communications.
  • This is leading to an increase in defense spending from 2026 to 2030.
  • New country regulations on sovereignty are opening discussions on what confidential data can be shared, where data is stored, and who has access to it.
  • HPE is looking for an intern who can make a business analysis for 2026 to 2030 based on IT spend in defense, including which percentage of defense spending is IT-related and addressable for HPE.

Your analysis will include

  • Creating an HPE value proposition for defense based on the HPE product portfolio
  • Conducting HPE competitive analysis
  • Building a business case for estimated defense investments

What you’ll need

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program. A degree background that demonstrates technology, data, compute, and analytical skills is preferred.
  • Expected graduation in 2027
  • You are not required to be an IT specialist, but you should have a genuine interest in the application possibilities of cloud computing, AI, and 5G private networks.
  • A broad interest in approaching a business case holistically, from technology, economic, legal, sales, and marketing angles
  • Comfort presenting your work, including creating presentations
  • Excellent English language skills; Dutch is preferred

What we’d prefer you bring

  • The drive to seek out what’s next and deliver exceptional results
  • A collaborative, solution-focused spirit and overall sense of urgency
  • A desire to embrace new ideas and fresh thinking, including ideas different from your own
  • Comfort with working in a hybrid, virtual, and face-to-face environment
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills and the ability to ask smart questions

What you can expect from us

  • Initial extensive onboarding to support your transition into the role
  • Ongoing learning and development throughout the duration of the program
  • Mentorship from at least one senior member of the team and the opportunity to build valuable relationships and international working experience

HP split itself into two companies, HP Inc. and HPE. HP Inc. is made up of its PC and printing businesses. And HPE is comprising HP's enterprise hardware, software and services businesses. With the name Hewlett Packard Enterprise the company carries a rich legacy, where it builds on the past and creates a brand that supports the business it’s today and projects what it will be in the future.

On the 1st of April 2017 HPE completed the spin-merge of their Enterprise services part together with CSC to the new company DXC technology. And in September 2017 also the Software part will spin-merge with Micro Focus into the world’s largest pure-play enterprise infrastructure software company.
