At Swapfiets, we've built a business on a simple idea: give people a reliable way to get around, and take away the hassle. Over 250,000 members across Europe trust us to keep them rolling. Behind that promise is a People & Culture team that keeps our organisation running just as smoothly, and that's where you come in.

We're looking for a People Specialist who knows German labour law inside out, keeps HR administration tight, and doesn't wait to be asked before spotting a problem and fixing it. 🚲 🚀

What you will do

  • Own HR administration and payrolling for Germany, ensuring accuracy and timely execution at every step.

  • Be the knowledge owner for German labour law, proactively tracking changes, translating them into practice, and keeping the business compliant.

  • Advise employees and managers on local HR topics, legislation, and Swapfiets policy.

  • Handle individual employee matters and manage communication with external parties: Tax authorities, payroll providers, unions and employer associations.

  • Review and improve HR processes and systems (we work with HiBob and Remote) to keep things running efficiently.

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for People Operations in Germany. Support, guide and coach your People Specialist colleagues, coordinate HR projects, and act as a proactive challenger and advisor to our Centers of Excellence.

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a liaison with country managers, Finance, Tech/ Data teams and external stakeholders to maximize your impact.

The gear you need:

  • Fluent in German and English.

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in HRM, Law, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in an HR operations role.

  • Solid, up-to-date knowledge of German labour law, and the drive to keep it that way.

  • A track record in accurate, structured HR administration; you get the details right without being asked twice.

  • A proactive mindset: you flag issues early, take ownership, and follow through.

  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, international environment where things don't always come with a manual

Benefits for a smooth ride:

  • Salary from €3184.- gross per month, depending on your experience, + 8% holiday allowance.

  • Your own Swapfiets (lend-lease) 🚲!

  • 32 vacation days for ample time off (that’s right, next to 25 vacation days you can use your 7 Swap days as you please).

  • A solid pension plan and a discount on your health insurance.

  • Mac or Windows laptop and phone allowance.

  • A challenging and rewarding role with significant responsibility and friendly colleagues.

  • Travel allowance (if you live more than 11 km away from the office, otherwise you’ll just use your Swapfiets, right.. 😎?)

  • Delicious and affordable lunch at the office prepared by our lunch heroes.

  • Access to Urban Sports Club for Business arrangement (to promote your healthy lifestyle!)

  • Learning programs development opportunities through our L&D department.

  • Engaging workshops and inspirational talks.

  • One day off per year to do voluntary work paid by Swapfiets.

  • Flexibility to work from and at the office in Amsterdam.
