How you can make a difference

As a graduation intern within the GET Platform, you will contribute directly to improving the testing process of store applications used within Etos. You will work on innovative solutions that help development teams test faster, more reliably, and more independently from complex external system dependencies.

Within Etos, several applications support daily store operations through handheld devices. These applications are used for processes such as stock management, ordering, internal shipments, and working with article, pricing, promotion, and store information.

Although the application itself can already be tested to a certain extent, many functional scenarios depend heavily on data from external source systems. Examples include price changes, promotions, store groups, store layouts, and article data. In practice, dependencies on external systems such as JDA and promotion processes often result in long testing lead times. Test data must frequently be prepared across multiple systems, specific scenarios are difficult to reproduce, and testing changes reliably can become time-consuming and inefficient.

At the same time, the team wants to better understand how end users in stores actually use the application. Which functionalities are used most frequently? Which routes do users take through the application? Where do delays, deviations, or optimization opportunities occur? These insights can help define more realistic and effective test scenarios.

During this graduation internship, you will design and build a proof of concept for a testing solution that simulates external source systems through stubbing or service virtualization. In addition, you will perform a process mining and usage analysis based on logging, event data, or other usage data to better understand real application behavior.

During your internship, you will work on:

  • Designing and building a proof of concept for simulating external source systems.
  • Investigating techniques such as stubbing and service virtualization.
  • Performing process mining and usage analysis on application data.
  • Analyzing logging and event data to understand real user behavior in stores.
  • Translating usage insights into realistic and effective test scenarios.
  • Improving the speed, reliability, and repeatability of functional testing processes.
  • Evaluating how testing can become less dependent on external systems and full integration chains.

This internship offers hands-on experience with software testing, process mining, system integration, analytics, and modern development practices. You will work together with technical teams and stakeholders while contributing to practical improvements with direct impact on development efficiency and software quality.

What we offer you.

  • An interesting and versatile graduation internship at the headquarters of Albert Heijn for 5/6 months starting in September 2026.
  • A challenging internship with real responsibilities and practical impact.
  • An internship allowance (€500 gross per four weeks) plus travel reimbursement.
  • Social events and networking opportunities with fellow interns.
  • An inclusive environment where you can continuously develop yourself both personally and professionally.

What you bring.

Especially if you bring analytical thinking and a passion for software engineering and innovation. Additionally:

  • You are currently pursuing a HBO degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ICT, or a related field.
  • You have affinity with software testing, system integration, and data analysis.
  • You are interested in process mining, logging analysis, and application monitoring.
  • Experience with programming, APIs, test automation, or virtualization concepts is a strong plus.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or data analysis tools is beneficial.
  • If you combine technical curiosity with strong analytical skills, that is a great match.

Furthermore, you are:

  • Analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Curious and eager to learn.
  • Proactive and comfortable working independently on technical challenges.
  • Communicative and collaborative in working with different teams.
