Are you keen on sharing technology with the world and supporting our global user-base? As a Developer Advocate at Elastic, you would help educate and support users across the search and AI ecosystem. The DevRel team's mission is to help users succeed by being, or being willing to become, an expert in Elasticsearch and the Elastic Stack.

Elastic enables everyone to find the answers they need in real time, using all their data, at scale. The Elastic Search AI Platform brings together the precision of search and the intelligence of AI to help organizations accelerate results across search, security, and observability.

Developers and community matter. Our users and contributors have helped ensure that the Elastic Stack, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash, is more than just code — they are free and open projects that people love to use and love to talk about.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Foster the Elastic Community in Europe (EMEA), with a local focus on Amsterdam.
  • Speak publicly at in-person and virtual conferences, meetups, lunch & learn sessions, and other events in the Amsterdam area and throughout EMEA.
  • Create and share technical content around the Elastic Stack, including code examples, talks, blog posts, videos, demos, tutorials, social media posts, and content for elastic.co or the YouTube channel.
  • Answer technical questions from developers on Discuss, Slack, developer forums, social media, and at events.
  • Review colleagues' content for technical accuracy.
  • Contribute code on GitHub to Elastic repositories and external repositories to improve integrations with Elastic technologies.
  • Help users be successful with Elastic’s stack, solutions, and cloud offerings.

What You Bring

  • Strong technical background and experience in an engineering role.
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling technology content through speaking, writing, and demoing.
  • Empathy for the community, with the ability to help solve issues, provide internal feedback to improve Elastic’s products, and fix problems where possible.
  • Comfort working with a highly distributed team.
  • A dedicated, self-directed approach and experience working in self-organizing teams.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with and passion for the Elastic Stack.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, spoken or programming, such as Golang, Python, Java, or Rust.
  • Production experience with technologies that complement Elastic’s technologies, from Generative AI to Kubernetes.
  • Involvement in past Elastic Community events as a speaker or organizer.
  • Experience with open source software or commercial open source companies.

Security & Privacy Responsibilities: Take ownership of protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational data and systems by following applicable privacy and security policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure that all individual contributions follow Elastic’s Secure Software Development Framework (SSDF). Proactively participate in mandatory role-based training to ensure personal technical execution consistently aligns with the highest standards of data protection, data privacy, and system resilience.

Elastic (NYSE: ESTC) is a search company with a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the creators of the Elastic Stack, we help thousands of organizations including Cisco, eBay, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, The Mayo Clinic, NASA, The New York Times, Wikipedia, Verizon, and many more use Elastic to power mission-critical systems.
