Android Developer

Would you like to make a real impact by working on widely used Android apps for clients such as ESPN and PostNL? At Hypersolid, we are looking for an Android Developer to build, improve, and maintain native applications using modern technologies and tools.

What are you going to do?

You are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining native Android mobile applications, leveraging the latest developments. You make the most beautiful apps from start to finish, while also continuously improving and maintaining existing applications.

During the design sessions, you provide input based on your expertise. You make hour estimates based on the designs and provide a ballpark estimate based on the requirements. You share responsibility for the apps' architecture with the entire Android team and work in scrum teams with other disciplines to create the most beautiful products.

Your activities include:

• Implementing new features and improving existing codebases.
• Debugging and troubleshooting.
• Optimizing the stability and performance of our Android apps.
• Actively thinking along with our customers and colleagues about new and existing functionalities.
• Being accountable for our architecture standards.
• Code testing through unit testing and code reviews.
• Supervising interns and junior Android developers.
• Collaborating with international clients and teams, with the flexibility to occasionally work across different time zones.
• Exploring and applying AI tools where useful to improve development workflows and productivity.

Our Team

You will join our Development department, which has 70 developers. The team includes 12 specialists who focus entirely on developing the Android platform. Additionally, you will work on a multidisciplinary team comprising designers, front-end and back-end developers, QA engineers, and a project manager, supporting one or more customers.

It is essential to share knowledge and make each other a little better every day. We do this by meeting every week during Android Weekly. We discuss new developments with one another, and each colleague takes the floor. New techniques or architecture choices are regularly discussed here, or results within a project are shared.

Within the Android team, we dedicate significant time and effort to fostering team spirit. We do this by organizing team-building activities, such as weekend trips or group dinners. Each year, we review the latest developments by attending the Android Dev Summit. Additionally, we participate in events like Funky Fridays and Talks Meetup. It's also important for us to get to know our colleagues better.

What do you bring with you?

• HBO working and thinking level.
• 3+ years of experience in Android development.
• Strong experience with Kotlin and working on complex Android applications, including maintaining and improving existing systems.
• Knowledge of MVVM and Clean Architecture.
• Interest in experimenting with AI tools to optimize your workflow and development process.
• A flexible mindset and willingness to collaborate with international clients across different time zones.
• You speak and write English effortlessly; Dutch is a plus.
