What are you going to do?

In this role, you will contribute to the introduction of Vision technology by helping expand the platform with smart, scalable solutions that enable farmers to monitor cows via video. The platform uses in-house developed edge devices to receive and process raw sensor and video data, which is then processed in the cloud to generate actionable insights for farmers and farm visitors.

You will develop various new .NET applications that together form the pipeline for converting raw sensor data into actionable insights. You will implement the algorithms developed by the Computer Vision Expert in your team.

Tech stack

The tech stack you will use spans both edge devices and the cloud. In the cloud, systems are regularly updated to the latest .NET versions as soon as they are released. The edge devices run a slimmed-down version of Linux, where the applications are hosted in containers. The cloud platform is hosted across multiple Azure regions and uses a wide range of services. Software roll-out is automated both at the edge and in the cloud. The platform already processes millions of incoming messages daily, with ambitions for strong continued growth.

Your responsibilities

Development

Develop scalable and maintainable software components for edge and cloud environments, with a focus on performance and reliability.

Test automation

Everything you build is accompanied by automated tests.

Application monitoring

Ensure a clear understanding of what your application is doing and continuously improve it through ongoing insights.

Your team

You will be part of the “Vision Insights” team. The Innovation team has developed a new technology, which you will help take to the next stage in collaboration with your team and other teams. Your team consists of a Product Owner, a Computer Vision expert, two Software Engineers and a Data Engineer.

The “Vision Insights” team is a multidisciplinary team focused on further developing computer vision algorithms, building and maintaining software applications, processing and managing data systems, and ensuring the quality and reliability of the system.

You will collaborate closely with the Computer Vision Expert within the team and be in frequent dialogue with other teams and disciplines within R&D. The teams focus on software for both dairy farmers and global business partners, with a continuous stream of new features based on internal insights and customer feedback. The teams work according to an Agile way of working.

What's in it for you?

You will make a valuable contribution to the goal of making people happier and more successful in their professional lives.

In addition to salary, the role includes a thirteenth month, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a shareholder. The working environment emphasizes trust and autonomy, with flexibility around working hours and vacation days to support a healthy work-life balance. Personal and professional growth are also valued, with a comprehensive introduction and encouragement to continue developing yourself.

Required skills

It is important that you are not afraid to take the initiative. This role involves the launch and further development of a new product, which means breaking new ground. You should be able to communicate easily and coordinate efforts both within and outside the team. You take responsibility for your own work and feel responsible for the success of your team.

Furthermore, you recognise yourself in the following:

  • Experience: You have at least 5 years’ experience with object-oriented programming (.NET and C#), test automation and application monitoring.
  • Architecture experience: You also have experience in setting up application architecture.
  • Preferred: It is a major advantage if you have experience or knowledge of image processing, ONNX, processing large data streams, OpenTelemetry and MQTT.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Language skills: You have a good command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
