Business Analyst Responsible Investments CMI

The role

We are a dynamic and international team within APG Asset Management’s Data Office who serve the Responsible Investment Domain in providing strategic solutions using a modern Data Platform with the objective to support investment strategies to achieve the best returns for our clients in relation to their ESG specific requirements. Currently we are onboarding new use cases in the Responsible Investment domain on APG Asset Management’s Data Platform (Databricks). This entails locking down requirements in terms of internal and external data sources, end data product deliverables, business logic and metadata aspects. The team is part of APG’s recently established Data Office within COO.

What you would do

Do you want to contribute to the design and build the next generation investment solutions using the latest technologies? Are you confident at iteratively refining user requirements and removing any ambiguity? Do you have a curious nature, always interested in how to innovate and make the best use of data management technologies in serving business needs?

  • Articulate business needs and problem statements, translate these into clear requirements and acceptance criteria and ensure alignment with stakeholders before any technical solutioning begins. Consequently, ensure engineers receive well defined problems, enabling them to design the best-fitting solutions.
  • Execute against product vision and the overall CMI Data Products roadmap; manage and own significant pieces of project deliverables end-to-end from the initial demand, all the way to testing the agreed solution and working with business stakeholders in delivering to production.
  • Develop understanding of ingested data sets, metadata metrics and appropriate data models. Support engineers with business context, fully explore and articulate interdependencies on roadmap components and validate that the technical solution fulfills the acceptance criteria.
  • Act as a linking pin between the team members in Data Office, Technology Office and investment desks and ensure business requirements are accurately represented in the proposed architecture through collaboration with engineers and architects to validate that solutions meet business objectives.
  • Represent the team in different stakeholder meetings including MDTs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, support teams and the organization to remove roadblocks.
  • Provide documentation of processes and business requirements.
  • Take on project management tasks and services.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Technology or equivalent.
  • Self-starter taking ownership of deliverables and proactive in highlighting and addressing impediments.
  • Domain knowledge of the asset management domain and preferably also of the Responsible Investment domain. Ability to see the big picture and commonalities across data product requirements.
  • Understanding and appreciation of business context considerations in data pipelines including data quality, data governance, lineage and other metadata aspects.
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and synthesizing skills to ensure engineers receive well defined problems.
  • Business analysis or project management experience in the financial industry, ideally with background in the asset management industry.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Flexible, pragmatic and resilient team player with strong interpersonal skills taking initiative to drive the Data Office’s roadmap and change agenda forward.
  • Adaptable, able to work across teams and functions in a multinational environment.
  • Any qualifications like CFA will be a plus.
