Join Tony’s Chocolonely as an Internal Communications Specialist and keep teams globally aligned and engaged. Translate strategy into clear, impactful storytelling that brings our mission to life.

Job description

Why we are here

Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

What you will do

We’re looking for an Internal Communications Specialist who ensures our internal communication is as sweet, salty and sometimes crunchy as our chocolate. In a growing global organisation, you play a key role in keeping Team Tony’s informed, aligned and connected, making sure the right messages reach the right people at the right time.

In this role, you own and continuously improve Tony’s internal communications approach. You turn business strategy, leadership decisions and change into clear, relevant and engaging communication so Tonys understand what matters, why it matters and what it means for them. From organisational changes to stories from our local teams and farmers in West Africa, you make sure it all lands and sticks.

You act as a trusted partner to leaders and stakeholders, helping them communicate with clarity, confidence and consistency. By focusing on what truly matters and continuously improving communication channels and content based on feedback, you build alignment, trust and engagement across markets, homebase, the factory and functions, bringing people along on the journey.

Success in this role is not measured by volume, but by clarity, relevance, and impact. You report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with Chiefs, Country Managers, People and Culture and stakeholders across Tony’s global organisation, teaming up with people who care deeply about what they do and why it matters.

All wrapped up, in this role you’ll

  • Shape and evolve internal communications: own and continuously improve Tony’s internal communications strategy and yearly plan, ensuring communication is clear, focused and aligned with business goals and impact ambitions
  • Translate strategy into clear communication: turn business priorities, leadership decisions and change into simple, relevant narratives that help employees understand direction and impact
  • Support and advise leaders: act as a trusted sparring partner to leaders and stakeholders, advising on messaging, timing and format to enable clear, authentic and consistent communication
  • Own communication channels and rhythm: manage and improve internal channels and the communication calendar (e.g. SharePoint, newsletters, Tuesday Morning Meeting (TMM), global updates, Global Get Together (GGT)), creating clarity on where to communicate what, reducing noise and fragmentation, and proactively shaping and guiding key topics and narratives across these moments
  • Create engaging content that sticks: set the standard for internal content across formats, from presentations to storytelling, making sure it is clear, engaging and relevant for a diverse, global audience
  • Bring the story to life: use storytelling to bring Tony’s mission, values and growth journey to life, connecting teams and building pride and belonging
  • Drive feedback and continuous improvement: actively gather feedback and insights (e.g. our QuestCheerNaire (QCN), employee input) and turn them into meaningful improvements in communication approach, content and channels

Job requirements

Our new flavor:

  • 3+ years of experience in internal communications inhouse or through Consulting, ideally in a growing or international organisation
  • A university degree in Communications, Marketing or other relevant studies
  • Experience in setting up or improving communication strategies, with a strong understanding of internal comms principles and best practices
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging and relevant communication and content, with strong written and verbal skills in English
  • Strong storytelling skills and experience in curating and prioritising content across teams, ensuring communication is focused and aligned with business priorities
  • Stakeholder-savvy; confident collaborating, influencing and building trust across levels, teams and cultures
  • Experience working with multi-channel communication tools and platforms (e.g. intranet, SharePoint), with a good understanding of how channels, format and timing drive engagement
  • Able to manage and optimise communication channels, and guide others on how to use them effectively
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, able to prioritise and deliver in a dynamic environment
  • Action orientated: you take on new opportunities and challenges with energy and ownership
  • Collaborative approach: you ask for feedback, build trust and work together to get to better results
  • Eagerness to work in an international and multicultural environment
  • Ideally you bring experience from both scaling and more mature organisations
  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the Amsterdam office on a weekly basis. More is fine too!
  • You believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s purpose.

Our benefits (the icing on the cake)

At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits we provide as you help us succeed. We’re dedicated to enabling all Tonys to grow and develop their careers and therefore we offer training programs, regular feedback cycles, coaching and a generous L&D budget. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits, including a luxurious vega-lunch, company bonus, minimum of 28 holidays, inspirational team updates, unforgettable events and unlimited chocolate.

Tony’s Chocolonely wants to make all chocolate 100% slave free. Not just our chocolate, but all chocolate worldwide. Not exactly the average company, right? Instead a chocolate company whose primary goal is to resolve a social issue in the world.
