Allseas Pioneering Spirit has a current order book for numerous topsides and jacket removals as well as platform installations, added to this are several platform preparations campaigns.

The heavy lift engineer is part of a multidisciplinary Agile team with creative Heavy Lift Engineers, Structural Engineers, Naval Architects and Draftsmen. This team is overseeing the concept, basic and detailed engineering phases for the projects in Allseas portfolio, ranging from the heaviest topsides and jacket lifts to date, to associated platform preparations campaigns. Basically all the engineering required for a safe and economical project execution by Allseas heavy lift fleet, utilizing the topsides lift system, jacket lift system, 5000 ton crane and support vessels capabilities.

Your role

Heavy lift engineers have a wide range of tasks covering the provision of technical solutions as well as writing operational procedures and provision of offshore support. This includes: design of topsides and jacket lift plans, destruct zones, (subsea) separation scopes, conductor removal, load transfer operations, platform preparations, crane operation and associated rigging, provision of client design input.

As heavy lift engineer you are responsible for:

  • Design and engineering: provision of solutions to facilitate the project with safe, reliable and innovative designs and procedures;
  • Support and stakeholder management: working in a multi-disciplinary team environment aligning your work with the project engineer and the various stakeholders. Contribute to departmental development. Provision of offshore support during project execution on vessel or yard;
  • Documentation for approval: preparation of documentation for projects covering the technical solutions, calculations, method statements and operational procedures ensuring they meet safety, performance and regulatory standards for class and/or client approval;
  • In-depth understanding of concepts and principles within your discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines;
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to weigh up aspects thoroughly in complicated or novel situations, drawing conclusions based on criteria, facts and previous experiences;
  • Provide coaching and supervising for junior and medior team members;
  • Interface with various disciplines (project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities, marine warranty surveyor) to define efficient and cost effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support;
  • Stay up to date with the development of specialised equipment for installation operations.

What we expect from you

To qualify for the position of Heavy Lift Engineer, you should recognize yourself in most of the following requirements:

  • You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering (or a related field);
  • You have at least 4 years of project related experience, preferably in a similar discipline or role (Heavy Lifting, Equipment Engineering, Transportation & Installation...)
  • Affinity with the offshore and marine environment is highly preferable;
  • You can work independently and possess an analytical, problem solving mindset;
  • Occationally, you are willing to travel and work offshore (3 to 4 weeks per year);
  • You are willing to dive deep into your field and become an absolute expert in your area;
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
