Proposal Engineer

As Proposal Engineer, you will make a positive contribution to the Functional Discipline Engineering within Royal IHC. Part of this discipline is the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) department, which helps customers make adaptations and upgrades to integrated equipment, systems, and structures. This includes the engineering of modifications, renovations, and improvements to equipment and systems.

Life Cycle Engineering is a service activity for operational dredging or offshore vessels comprising three main aspects:

• analyses and studies – from feasibility studies to workability analyses
• engineering and design – from concept engineering to production drawings
• naval architecture – from stability guidance booklets to lightweight checks

Within LCE, the Proposal Engineer is engaged throughout the entire flow, starting at lead generation up to after sales. Using legacy data and knowledge holders, you generate solutions and provide these to internal customers. Your engagement starts by joining and supporting the sales colleagues during the lead generation process. When bidding for conversion and renovation projects, you will supply the cost estimation and quotation for the engineering part of the EPCI contract. In case of engineering-only tenders, you will manage the complete proposal process.

For all orders that are won, you will act as a contact person to the client and help the project manager define change orders. At the end of the order, you will be involved in the lessons learned session, which can be implemented in your next quotation.

As a Proposal Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Orchestrate the process from tender qualification to hardware after sales.
• Assist sales and proposal managers with engineering quotations.
• Help clients define their requests.
• Create concepts to solve the challenges of clients.
• Manage internal stakeholders to gather information that supports your proposal.
• Create cost calculations and corresponding quotations.
• Contribute to social media visibility.

Your Profile

To be eligible for the position, you must have the following:

• Technical bachelor’s or master’s degree in, for example, Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Relevant work experience gained in a similar position in relevant industries.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and willingness to learn complex technical systems available onboard vessels.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, creative and flexible attitude.
• Excellent English communication skills and preferably, but not necessarily, Dutch.
• Valid EU work visa.
