Freelance Translation Support – English to French (f/m/x)

HelloFresh Benelux is looking for a freelance English-to-French translator to support French recipe content production. In this role, you will work closely with the internal French translator/editor to translate, edit, and adapt recipe content while ensuring consistency with the HelloFresh tone of voice and culinary terminology standards.

This is a long-term freelance collaboration consisting of weekly structural support, alongside additional coverage during holiday periods.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Translate recipe content from English into French in Google Sheets, including recipe titles, subtitles, and step-by-step cooking instructions.
• Edit and refine existing recipes requiring updates, revisions, or text alterations.
• Ensure all French culinary terminology aligns with the HelloFresh writing style guide and brand tone of voice throughout all translation and editing tasks.
• Collaborate closely with the internal French translator/editor and the editing team to support the editing team’s workflows.
• Help maintain quality and continuity during holiday coverage periods.
• The role may shift more toward editing and refinement of AI-assisted translations over time.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• You are a native French speaker, preferably from Wallonia, with excellent English comprehension.
• Experience in translation and editing, or copywriting.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in language and tone.
• Familiarity with culinary terminology and food-related content.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
• Previous experience in food, e-commerce, or consumer brands is a plus.

Commercial information

• This role is offered on a freelance basis; standard employee benefits do not apply.
• All costs and expenses, including travel or commuting, must be included in the proposed hourly rate. Hourly rates should be communicated excluding VAT.
• Invoicing must comply with applicable Dutch legal and VAT requirements.
• All contingent workers engaged by HelloFresh must hold valid professional liability insurance that is valid in the Netherlands. If selected and not yet insured, you will be required to arrange this insurance before starting the assignment.

Practical details

• Start date: June 1, 2026
• Duration of the assignment: 4-6 months
• Ongoing support: Approximately 12-16 hours per week (equivalent to 1-2 working days per week) as continuous support for the internal French editor.
• Additional holiday coverage: When the internal French translator/editor is on vacation, additional support will be required of up to 2-3 working days per week to ensure uninterrupted production coverage.
• Suggested office presence: Not required
