Position Summary

The SAP Business Integration Specialist serves as the critical bridge between business process owners (Procurement & Logistics, Finance and the operational teams) and the Technical IT team. Unlike a traditional IT analyst, this role sits within the business to ensure that our SAP landscape is not just "functional," but is actively driving ROI through the implementation of advanced modules and process automation.

The ideal candidate combines deep S/4HANA Public Cloud technical knowledge with a "Business First" mindset to eliminate manual workarounds and streamline the end-to-end value chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate complex business requirements from Procurement and Finance into technical functional specifications for the IT development team.
  • Improve process effectiveness and business adoption, especially in Finance and Procurement, following implementation. Identify and resolve operational and process issues, not only designing improvements.
  • Lead the roadmap and implementation of Phase 2 modules, such as Advanced Warehouse Management or S/4HANA FP&A Finance extensions. Clarify the need to work within system constraints and prioritization, balancing business needs with what is feasible in S/4HANA Public Cloud. Where needed, manage the deliverables of external implementation partners.
  • Map and optimize Procure-to-Pay (PTP) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) cycles to ensure data flows seamlessly across departments without manual intervention. Ensure cross-functional alignment and visibility of dependencies, roles and responsibilities across departments.
  • Prepare data-driven business cases for the ERP Steering Committee to justify the implementation of new features based on cost savings and efficiency gains. Strengthen the role of IT as an active partner, not only as a recipient of requirements.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) from the business perspective, ensuring that IT deliveries actually solve operational pain points.
  • Establish and enforce Single Source of Truth standards for master data (Vendor, Material, and Customer) to prevent garbage in, garbage out scenarios.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate end-user training with the respective departments.
  • Develop insights into end-user adoption of SAP and specific modules and support Procurement, Finance and the business in monitoring adoption rates.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Finance background with a proven track record in Financial Controlling.
  • 7+ years of experience in SAP environments (ECC or S/4HANA), with specific depth in MM (Materials Management), FI (Financial Accounting), and CO (Controlling).
  • Proven ability to speak the language of a Procurement Director or CFO, understanding P&L impact, working capital, and supply chain risk.
  • Experience leading at least 2 full-lifecycle SAP implementations or major module rollouts. Agile, Scrum, Lean or equivalent project management accreditation is a plus.
  • Exceptional soft skills to influence stakeholders who may be resistant to moving away from legacy Excel-based processes.
  • Ability to understand ABAP code, API integrations, and table structures without being a coder.

Preferred Profile

  • A troubleshooter mentality: someone who doesn't just fix a bug, but identifies the root cause and looks for sustainable solutions.
  • Experience in Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) prior to or during SAP implementations.
  • Certification in SAP S/4HANA or PMP is a plus.
  • We are looking for a freelance/contractor.
