As a Fraud Operator, you proactively investigate and detect fraud cases based on data analysis and received reports. Your Daily Actions

In Fraud & Security, you work in an international team of 20 colleagues in the Netherlands, France, and Germany, supporting over 3,300 stores in all countries where we operate. Together, you work on a wide variety of cases.

Your work focuses on detecting, investigating, and analyzing fraud using various data sources. You conduct thorough investigations into fraud incidents through concrete inputs and systematic analysis:

Investigation Inputs:

  • Cash register discrepancies and unusual transaction patterns
  • Inventory movements and stock level anomalies
  • Direct reports and tips from staff
  • Automated system alerts and data anomalies
  • Customer complaints related to potential fraud

Investigation Process:

  • Analyse cash register data and transaction histories to identify suspicious patterns
  • Review security camera footage to verify incidents and gather evidence
  • Cross-reference multiple data sources including POS systems, inventory management, and employee records
  • Create comprehensive investigation reports documenting findings, evidence, and risk assessments
  • Maintain detailed case files with supporting documentation and analysis

Follow-up and Resolution:

  • Coordinate with line managers to discuss investigation outcomes and recommendations
  • Present findings to relevant stakeholders and provide expert advice on next steps
  • Process investigation results and support decision-making on disciplinary actions or policy changes
  • Monitor implementation of corrective measures and track case resolution
  • Provide feedback to stores on prevention strategies and best practices
  • You conduct fact-based investigations, write concise and powerful reports, and work closely with various departments to complete incident resolution.

Your Team

Fraud & Security, as a separate domain within Action, is responsible for protecting the company’s employees, customers, suppliers, and assets across all operations. The domain covers store security, supply chain security and workspaces, fraud investigations, and loss prevention, and operates across all countries in which Action is active.

The Fraud & Security organization develops and continuously improves central policies, frameworks, and processes, working closely with its stakeholders. The teams focus on preventing and investigating fraud, minimizing losses, safeguarding people and goods throughout the supply chain, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for customers to shop, employees to work, and suppliers to operate with confidence. This includes security monitoring, alarm follow-up, surveillance, and investigations.

Who You Are

We are looking for a colleague who enjoys being in contact with other departments, can provide advice based on research, stands firm in their convictions, and is curious to investigate incidents in detail. You have good communication skills, are analytically strong, can get to the point quickly, and are able to contribute new ideas. In our fast-growing and changing organization, it is essential to be eager to learn and flexible.

Furthermore, you have:

  • University of Applied Sciences (HBO) working and thinking level
  • Affinity and/or experience with fraud investigating
  • Knowledge or experience in retail is a plus
  • Good command of the English language, both spoken and written. Another European language is a plus
