The role

As a Financial Controller for Damen Offshore & Specialized Vessels, you contribute to the accuracy and reliability of our financial data and play a crucial role in translating these into valuable insights for our stakeholders.

The Financial Controller reports to the Finance Director of the Damen Offshore & Specialized Vessels division and plays an important role in realizing internal and external financial reporting. This includes the individual DOSV entities, cash flow planning, and ad-hoc financial analyses. Additionally, you will improve the current SAP (ERP) set-up for OSV and support other improvement projects, contributing to maximizing the benefits of available tooling.

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial accounting, month-end closing, and delivery of all monthly and quarterly financial reports in close contact with the Financial Shared Services Center to the Director Finance and Damen Group.
  • Deliver complete and correct annual accounts for the OSV division and all related entities, domestic and abroad, and act as the primary contact for external auditors, ensuring timely and high-quality audit files.
  • Contribute to the quarterly rolling forecast and annual business plan in close cooperation with the Manager Business Control and relevant stakeholders.
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret financial data; monitor cost center budgets; prepare monthly variance analyses; and provide proactive advice on cost accounting and financial performance.
  • Deliver accurate cash flow forecasts and analyses in cooperation with business and project control to support liquidity management of the Damen Group.
  • Ensure compliance with international and national laws, accounting standards, and Damen accounting policies; continuously improve financial control processes, GL integrity, and the planning and control cycle.
  • Contribute to financial and tax risk mitigation strategies and monitor the financial operations of subsidiary companies, including foreign entities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of departmental processes, support knowledge development within the team, and adhere to HSSEQ standards.

Skills & experience

  • Master degree in Business Economics, Accounting or Finance, or comparable experience.
  • Preferably Registered Auditor (RA).
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in accounting, reporting, or similar areas.
  • Driven, ambitious, and eager to learn and develop on a personal and professional level.
  • Accurate, well-structured, and hands-on.
  • Team player who is flexible and able to work in a small team within a dynamic work environment.
  • Affinity with automation and digitization of reporting processes and Power BI analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with SAP or a similar ERP system, with a drive for improvement.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
